great game. Ark almost stole it from the Horns, but Jones put the ball on the ground late. I am surprised that the Hogs outgained them for the game, 451 to 410.

Going into the season, I thought the Hogs would be about a .500 team, but I think they might be better then that.

Hogs O line looked good. Texas was lucky to win that game considering how crappy the played. Good luck to the Hogs the rest of the season.

Btw, Fresno State looks utterly amazing so far. Hopefully they can make it last, I always like it when smaller conference teams run the table.

Btw, does the state of Illinois have any competitive, consistent top-25 team?

Why should they? They have U-Chicago. I'll take the academics .

Btw, Georgia better shape up or else when they run into the meat of their SEC schedule, they'll drop a few.

Historically, SC has always played us tough.

I had a thought while reading how UCLA beat Illinois: has the school of Zuppke and Grange done anything since, oh, 1942? Then I tried thinking of *any* consistent top-25 Illinois team and I couldn't... ergo the question.

Looking it up I see they have had two (2) 10-win seasons since 1971, when they went to an 11 game season.

Yeah, but last week, Georgia seemed dead for the entire first half, before they woke up. I thought they were just rusty after the summer, but they played like crap again in the 1st half. They came back again, but against better teams like Florida, Tennesee, LSU, that'll be much tougher to do.

We had a tune up game for the season, and then a tune up game for the SEC. I agree - I would've liked the Dawgs to have been more convincing in their wins (especially SC), but they did shut South Carolina down after the first quarter. Another 7 points would have been nice, but the D stiffened up when it needed to.

Just gotta control the ball, dammit!

Yeah, the problem isn't the D. The O just looks rusty. Greene didn't look particularly great.

Next time you're miffed as your favorite team is getting blown out, remember the true definition of running up the score. Western Illinois beat Cheyney (Pa.) 98-7 on Saturday. The Leathernecks' Travis Glasford scored five of his six touchdowns in the first quarter. The turnaround for I-AA Western Illinois was 130 points from the previous week when it lost to Nebraska 56-17.

Cal - Southern Miss rescheduled for Dec. 4. Not much for me to watch this week.
