  • So tell me this, how is that the signatures on CBS's documents don't match the signatures of the same person from the official government documents he signed?

    • Unfortunately for CBS, P.O. Box 34567 appears to have belonged to the 147th Fighter Group, not the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron. I've looked at a lot of those known authentic documents* and have yet to find one that has the 111th receiving mail at that P.O. Box.

      • Just one little item. The address PO Box 34567, is a bit dubious, and that's what tipped me off back then. I talked to Marty Heldt about that. His answer was that this was Killians home address. So, I decided to check. This address was, at the time shown on the document, unassigned. Further, the address was a po box at the main post office in Houston, Texas. The zip code was for a small town in Texas, Genoa, Texas that did NOT have po boxes.

        • Wizbangblog says the trail of who forged the memo's leads to a short list of people, including Marty Heldt, an Iowa farmer who has been has been peddling a false document package on Bush since 2000.

              • I still see no reports that anyone has looked at Killian's personnel files. I would have a hard time understanding just how a forger could place these forgeries into his permanent record.

                • This "issue" is such a ****ing waste of time. **** the ****ing bull**** political process we have in this country. What actually matters is the incumbent President's record of leadership during his term, and the challenger's proposed course of action. But instead of really talking about all that, like sheep, we find ourselves staring at documents (or forged documents) from decades ago regarding national guard service?? What in the name of the Holy Cowbell is going on here?!?!

                  • When one of the most respected news agencies reports the news that could have an impact on the campaign, based on possibly fraudulent evidence, it is a major story. Since the Kennedy Nixon election, TV has played a major role so it's credibility is quite important. But maybe this is good. If the major services can be so easily proved biased or fooled, maybe people will finally stop relying on them so much. NAW.

                      • Besides a slight bias, I at least used to trust CBS. But that's a result of growing up with Walter C.

I even used to respect Peter Jennings until I watched his over the top biased covering of the Republican convention. What ever happend to just reporting the news and letting people make up their own mind.

Incompetant strategy by the Demos, (the idiot DNC is still making 30 years ago the main issue, and every time the Repubs go into Kerry's voting records he switches to 30 years ago whith "they are attacking my patriotism and I fought in Vietnam"), and incompetant and biased reporting by CBS. If the demos can screw up a political campaign, which is much more simple that running the country, so badly, what the hell do you think will happen if they get into office? Recall how much of whitehouse staff appointments are drwn from compaign staff.

                          • I still think the "impeachable source" is Karl Rove, and he figured out a way to slip this to the Kerry campaign knowing they would pass it to a newsource and then he could yank the rug out from under them.

Sounds like something he would come up with.
