Batman is by far the coolest, and since he is just a psycho in a costume, none of this silly superpowers business.

Thought I also think Samurai Jack is a cool kat.

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

Oh yes he did. I actually read Spiderman comics in the 70s, when the Punisher first arived on the scene. Punisher was a Spiderman badguy.

I don't remember him poping caps in litterbugs. Care to provide an issue number? I will agree with you that he isn't a hero. Hence the use of the term anti-hero.

Why are all X-Men grouped together EXCEPT Wolverine? He is already overhyped .

You expect me to remember a comic book number from the mid 70s?

On that day, Frank vowed to use his skills and experience to wage a one-man war on crime. He set out to punish all criminals, and more often than not, that punishment takes a very lethal form indeed.

The Bronze Age (early 1970's to 1986) introduced the antihero again, but this time as a minor supporting character. The most famous of this is comic's first true antihero, Marvel's the Punisher. Once again, the cardinal rule of comics - heroes don't use guns - was retconned. Frank Castle, aka the Punisher, was a cop who saw his entire family gunned down in front of him by rival mob families. After quitting the force, Castle began his crusade against the underworld with an array of weapons, rarely ever leaving his targets alive (Christensen and Seifert, 52). The Punisher immediately became extremely popular with audiences, appearing sporadically in numerous comics. In their eyes, he was eliminating the scum of the world, such as drug dealers, serial killers, and rapists. He had become their judge, jury, and executioner... and the audience couldn't get enough. Many of these antihero counterparts soon followed, such as Marvel's Elektra, the first female antihero, and DC's Deathstroke, a biologically enhanced mercenary.

Spidy was swinging by, saw Punisher open up on some litterbug, went after him. That's about all I remember. I'm trying to google it right now.

The Punisher has ranged from the controlled hitman, focused on killing real criminals, to the 'obssessed with the law' lunatic, who shot at a couple for littering, and at a taxi driver who heard the shots and fled, running a red light (Spectacular Spider-Man #82). Fortunately, he missed, which doesn't happen very often. This could have been a clear indicator that he was not himself. After all, that was a side of the Punisher which wasn't seen very often. Most of the time he's a cold killer, and has a good discernment.

Deathstroke was never a hero of any variety to my knowledge. He was always a Titans villian IIRC.
