Probably a reflection of his longtime career writing screenplays. I imagine writing screenplays is very similiar to writing comics...I do like his Dialogue.

Che: IIRC, they didn't retcon Ned's actual "adventures" as Hobby, but painted them as Kingsley pulling his puppet strings after finding the GG lair and taking the first few rides himself. I know it's not a whole lot of consolation. I'm in the "If it ain't broke..." school on retcons, too, but if you still read comics, you should check the series out.
According to Wikipedia, the retcon had it that it was never Ned, Kingsley just put the costume on him to try and fake his own death and get away with it all.Captain of Team Apolyton - ISDG 2012
