  • If the French Barbarians are truly promoting Jonno and Dally for that fixture someone is badly misleading you (to sell tickets?) - there is a full English league program through the autumn internationals and there is no way that Wasps and Tigers will release them to play in that game.

Sorry to break the bad news.

Only because les grenouilles can't think of anything to fill the space!

The game's played on a Tuesday. Isn't two or three days off enough?

        • Probably not.

The reality is that neither club will be pleased to release their club skippers to prospective injury in an ultimately meaningless game when both have games the next weekend that do count for the clubs bottom lines...

I can't find any reference to what Tamerlin's talking about. I really wish he'd give the wacky backy a rest. Still, he's almost as entertaining as this little gem:

Leicester flanker Lewis Moody's desire to impress on his return after injury caused a flare-up with Tigers captain Martin Johnson in training last week.

"It was my first session and I was extra keen, trying to do everything and hit everything," Moody told The Sun.

"Tempers flared and 'Johnno' and I had a little coming together. He gave me a little dink and I gave him a little dink - but his hurt a lot more!

Yellow cards on the training track!

Edit. Oh, and G. Henry reveals that Carlos' AB days are numbered

I too have only heard it from him – not a dicky bird anywhere else.

You saw the Moody story then? Not as bad as it sounds – ‘Dinks’ on the training ground have long been a part of Tigers culture because the training is so full on. Nice to see Lewis back doing "full contact" work.

Interesting to see Henry may have finally abandoned the Spencer experiment and seemingly is abandoning Merhtens too. The timing is perfect – I would no longer think we would be interested in either with Westhuyzen back next season and Broadfoot showing promise – so Henry by persisting with Carlos as long as he did saved us a pile of cash in the end.

So what is this trouble Matt Rogers is in? Something about calling Aussie club rugby pointless and useless?

And further insight into Henry’s plans – Brock James refused the chance to play S12 in NZ simply because, although NZ resident, he is Aussie qualified through Sevens and they only want S12 stand offs who can be ABs.

One suspects if this 22 yr old Aussie had not yet donned wattle he might have been fast tracked to the Black.

I told you he could be a French comedy writer.

                Define a "dink" for me.

He called playing it a waste of time. He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, our Matt. He tends to run off at the mouth a bit in his newspaper column. The reality is that club rugby is obviously a lower grade than, say, S12. It always will be, regardless of any move to a national club comp. The majority of the players in club footy are amateur or as good as - expenses, bonus for wins, and so on. Matt's problem is that he didn't come up through club rugby. He went from school rugby - and playing schoolboy rugby for Australia - to L*****. He never experienced the club rugby culture. Our better rugby players, who came through the system, love going back to play for their clubs. It's where they grew up and developed their games. By going back and playing on a suburban ground in front of a thousand people in a tinpot grandstand, they're putting something back into the game. They know it, and look forward to it. That's what Matt fails - or failed - to grasp.

Yes, and the Kiwis are changing their S12 rules to match ours. You have to be eligible and available to play for the national team to play S12.

                Depending how good he is.

                • A "Dink" is an action whereby bodily harm is occasioned on a player by another player. It has a wider meaning than punching but is generally used synonymously for punching.

Ruck of course is used in the same way - and can lead to confusion at games for non Brits when someone in the crowd next to you shouts they are 'rucking' and all you can actually see in all in boxing taking place.

                  • A rare glimpse into the Leicester psyche. Of course, in France, a "dink" is the blonde tip in a player's hair.

It has been reported in the Midi Olympique, the French Rugby gossip source number one.

Only a part of it is available for free, the more interesting part is only available if you pay for it. I have read the article again and Neil Back is also supposed to come with the two other thugs.

                              • This barbarians match is between the Aussie's fixtures with Scotland and France right?

So Tigers are expected to release Jonno and Backy for it? It's not impossible as our opponents that weekend after are Worcester away - but it is still not going to happen IMO.

If the Barbarians game is after the match with France it simply will not happen as Tigers and Wasps meet the weekend after that - neither club will let those players go before that.

I see Toulouse are skippering Wales now then?
