    • They can't let the citizens kill these terrorists. They have to be taken to a dark hole and skinned until they give up who supplied and organized them. You have to get at the root or more will be back. The very culture that brought forth such monsters must be violently destroyed. WWII's carpet bombing comes to mind.

I understand why you say this, but killing more innocent kids isn't really a solution in my book.

Safety of the children is what civilization is all about. From the earliest stone age settlements it must have been the first thing. For the Russians and the world that safety is gone and we must do what it takes to get it back.

Unrelevant. Terror acts in Israel or Iraq do not prove that there may be more in Russia shortly - it's the big amount of terror acts and terrorists in Russia itself.

Saif el adel, Operational head of AQ, and Saad Bin Laden (OBL's son, who also has an operational role), and others in Iran, theoretically under house arrest, though Michael Ledeen and others have claimed that they are essentially under Iranian protection and are directing operations from there. Admin has hinted at this but not come out openly with accusations (after iraq-WMD it would seem wise for the USto wait for very clear evidence - in any case our Army is overstretched anyway) Saudi has asked for these operatives to be extradited, while Iran has refused. Russia, one of Irans principle trade partners, could add its weight to the call for the extradition of these men.

WRT to Pakistan, its actions against AQ have occured due to US pressure, largely. Adding Russian pressure could add to Paki activity, although historically Russian relations with Paki have been poor.

Children wouldn't be the target, that alone would be an improvement over the current situation.

What solution is in your book?

You go after those that ARE responsible, not those who you think are or who could be.

When it's over, I'd condemn it and go to war when I found out who is behind this, until there was no chance of such a thing ever happening again, and children can once again be safe in their own schools.
Last time they gassed half the hostages in their efforts to "settle" the crisis. So sorry, but I'm not really sharing your assumption that the silence is a deliberate tactic to safeguard lives. I'd rather believe they're clueless.

You know, terrorists can capture my university.... There are 10 armed guards, 2 on each entrance easy target for terrorists. Many students are policemen or soldiers but they generally come to the university without weapons or with small pistols only. Several come to university with M16 but they are scattered...
You're allowed to bring M16 into University?? What kind of crazy place is that?

And what do you do with them during the lectures?

He did not remove all. And indeed he would not let them return.

I think that's totally unfair. They settled the theater crisis as well as could be expected. They saved half the hostages. It's easy for you to sit in your easychair and criticize tactics you know nothing about.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
