It would be definetly used as support of the assertion that the Republicans cannot tolerate dissent at all. I think it'd be pretty damaging.

Definitely? I think you're overstating your case here.

Besides, the Republicans could always come up with a good excuse. The "we can't afford to feed him" line would work like a charm.

"And there will be strange events in the skies--signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!" --Luke 21:25-28
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

Of course not. You don't think the Democrats wouldn't use it as support of their assertion that the Bush Administration can't tolerate dissent? The media wouldn't make that assertion? Come on, that'd be WAAAY too good for them to pass up.

So is proof that a presidential candidate repeatedly lied about his service in Vietnam, even going so far as to use made-up stories to criticize the President of the United States from the Senate floor. They didn't cover that one, though, so why should we think that they would definitely cover something as inconsequential (and altogether predictable) as the Republicans not wanting Michael Moore at their convention?

                  Me too.

Some parts of the film are very speculative, but the most powerful parts are scenes of Bush just being Bush. For example, there's Bush at an opulent fundraiser where all the men are dressed in white tie (something you rarely see these days). Bush stands up and addresses the audience as "the haves and the have mores", then he says, "some call you the elite but I just call you my base".

If you walk into the film undecided, scenes like that will convince you that you don't want Bush in the White House.

As for Moore's attendence at the Republican convention... I read somewhere that he's shooting film for a new documentary. So he must've gotten in with press credentials.

He was taking the piss out of himself. Gore was at the same dinner and made similar self-deprecating comments. It sure is a victory for the public when their leaders can't even crack a joke without having some partisan hack twist it into a condemnation of them.

edit: Gore, at the same event...

"The Al Smith Dinner represents a hallowed and important tradition, which I actually did invent."... Gore promised that he would put "Medicare in a walk-in closet," put NASA funding in a "hermetically sealed Ziploc bag" and would "always keep lettuce in the crisper."

Oh my god! Gore is clearly an insane megalomaniac! How does he think he is going to put Medicare in a closet? Thank god this nut didn't become president!

You are kidding, right? It's a big PR prize.

No, I don't think they would.

Now you are just trolling. The media doesn't like Bush and Moore is one of them (somewhat).

Fair enough. Long ago, he was funny. But now he's just bitter.

I'm looking forward to seeing Arnold.
