Puting out a prominent minority candidate that hold views 180 degrees from what the magority of their group express is a blatant atempt at exploiting both them and the general publics ignorance.

Condi Rice holds views 180 degrees from George Bush? Colin Powell holds views 180 degrees from Bob Dole or Bush, Sr? Please!

So if republicans are not trying or atleast not succeding at tricking blacks themselves into voting Republican who are they trying to trick.

No one perhaps? They are simply appointing the best person for the job, whether he or she is black or white. Rice isn't the NSA advisor because she is black. Powell is SecState because he is black. If you say their race was the reason they got their positions then you are highly ignorant about their histories.

Democrates stand by their long record of support for civil rights and afirmitive action, its whats on the inside that counts for them. In contrast the republican party simply tries to make itself LOOK like the people who wont vote for them.

So you are saying that Democrats stand by their long record of support for civil rights and affirmative action by not appointing any minorities to leadership positions (yes, there are a few in Congress, but not that many at all)? That's really showing how much they are the party of minorities.

Democrats take the minority vote for granted. They know that they can pay lip service to civil rights and do some scare mongering about the Republicans and get blacks to come out in droves to vote for them. Of course they don't want to put blacks in position of power... that's just too much for them!! Democrats just take blacks for granted. Republicans actually put qualified blacks in powerful positions.

Perhaps Democrats are more in line with black interests, but you wouldn't know it from the looks of their leadership. Could you imagine telling, say women, that don't worry about leadership positions, we know what you want?

Out of anyone? I like McCain... but if Powell wanted to run, I'd definetly back him.

I do like Condi though. She is very smart and I think she may do foriegn policy more like Bush, Sr. (for whom she was "his woman on Russia") than W Bush. I don't know anything about her domestic policies though.

The problem is that McCain ISN'T socially liberal. I think many people are confused about who McCain really is. He is pretty conservative socially.
