John Kerry the Braggart: Unfit For Command, Part 4
There's one other base here, the media. Let's talk a little media bias here. The media, I think, wants Kerry to win and I think they're going to portray Kerry and Edwards I'm talking about the establishment media, not Fox. They're going to portray Kerry and Edwards as being young and dynamic and optimistic and there's going to be this glow about them, collective glow, the two of them, that's going to be worth maybe 15 points. - Evan Thomas, the Assistant Managing Editor of Newsweek
I find it hilarious that people still doubt that there's a pro-Kerry bias in the media. Hell, the media folks themselves even admit it, now.

You should agree with me more often, given that I'm completely right on all of this...
I guess I don't read you enough, but you seem to believe most of the unproven anti-Kerry crap, the same way a good Democrat would believe in most of the unproven pro-Kerry crap.

I've been talking about the Cambodia story, which has been proven to be a Kerry lie, and asking that the other SwiftVet accusations be investigated as thoroughly as President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard was investigated. Don't see what's so outrageous about that.

I guess the tone of your posts makes the difference then

Well, my tone does get a bit harsh when I constantly have to deal with partisan hacks who don't have the first clue about the facts and don't have any interest in learning about them. If I only talked to you, Spiff, I'm sure I'd be the sweetest guy on Poly. That isn't possible, though, to my dismay...

The funny part is that Kerry will probably lose even with the support of his pals. Maybe he can sue the Internet. He has already tried to block the publication of ads and books that oppose him. I thought he was for free speach?
I haven't noticed any kind of energetic pro-Kerry bias in the media (not yet anyway). But I have noticed that anti-Bush points of view are getting more attention in the mainstream press than they used to. Even conservative pundits, like George Will, seem to be distancing themselves from Bush.
It's Bush's own fault, really. For the past four years he treated the press with contempt, and now it's pay-back time.
Personally, I'd like to see the network media give even more time to anti-Bush views so as to balance the right-wing demagoguery that Fox broadcasts. If Fox is going to campaign openly for Bush, then the more professional news organizations should provide some counterpoint to that.

I see that the despicable anti-American communist John Glenn, has asked Bush to condemn the SB ads as an insult to all veterans.
Won't these pinko America-haters ever shut up?
Agathon asks: What's my motivation?
He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!

Which is a 20 year old story. Maybe we should talk about what Bush was doing 20 years ago *sniffffff* oh that's the good ****!
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
On the kindest interpretation, the "war wimps" charge is based on a non sequitur, linking two things that have nothing to do with each other (military service as a young man, on the one hand, and sound judgment in geopolitical affairs, on the other)
It's not that much of a non-sequitur. It's meant to point out the superiority of experience. Someone who has been in war, and knows just what it is like to be in combat, will, other things being equal, have a better understanding of what troops will go through, and would, other things being equal, be less likely to send troops off for frivolous reasons.
Not speaking to anyone in particular but why don't all you folks that think this is a non issue or that Bush is a worse scumbag than Kerry start your own thread? You could call it "Bush is a worse scumbag than Kerry" for example. This thread is about Kerry's fitness for command. What makes him fit or unfit to command our armed forces? Does being an admitted war criminal and a fabricator of war stories make one fit to command? Is that a virtue in today's political climate?
