Yeah, and this show of emotion about it getting to him might be why people have fun with it.

BTW, I had friends and social support, and fought back as much as possible - which is why the jerk resorted to harassing and not actually beating me up, and generally only did it with his gang around, and when my friends werent around..
Apparently you were just working hard and not smart at this.

Ah, I see that your point is one of self-justification. Thanks. All I needed to know.
I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

No normal, good person wants to smack sense into anyone. I could see why someone whos more sensitive than I was, and had access to weapons, would want to shoot you, though.
Why do so many people like to debate about poltics, economics, sports? Try to get people to see their viewpoint.

yup, anyone who shows emotion when being bullied or teased deserves to be bullied or teased. What a selfjustifiying viewpoint.
Damn, if you didn't live such a sheltered life in high school maybe you'd realize at some point in time that certain emotions can be a weakness and there are times where you shouldn't show them.

Do you think that rejects/nerds still suffer 10 years later if they were bullied or rejected in high school? I ask this because I saw a report on TV yesterday that says that emotional pain of rejection and such is pin-pointed in the brain at the same place than physical pain. And they said it could leave scars for many many years...

Voted "Nerd/Left Alone" category, though my interests weren't particularly nerdy. "Normal" was close too, but since I tended to observe high school, not participate, the "Left Alone" listing was closest of them all.
I had 5 years of high school (grades 8-12) and not a single entry in my senior yearbook (didn't even get my picture made). Hell, do you realize how hard it is not to participate in even a single extracurricular activity for five whole years? Never went to any of the dances, never went to any athletic events, skipped as many pep rallies as I could, I have difficulty remembering my teachers names, and when I went to classmates.com to see my senior class, fully recognized 2 names out of the 80 that registered. When I first went there, I actually went back and forth a year to make sure I was at the right class!

I didn't make any points for you. School IS real life, if you're in school.
I find it unfathomable that you discount everyone else's opinion if they are different from yours. The only analysis I can get from this is that your opinion describes a core tenet of yours, one that you probably used to get over your being bullied, and/or used to justify your own bullying. Therefore you can't question it.
All pain is physical, and can have long term effects. You include the ability of a person to dicount pain (which varies, and I agree with) but COMPLETELY ignore the levels of pain a person can be afflicted with. Why is that?
If a person is robbed, a woman raped, or one loses a limb in an accident, would it be okay if they bore scars for months or years, in your opinion? Or are they being 'whiny'?
It's not a core tenet of mine. I have other things I care about. I'm just bored right now so I'm involved in this conversation. And I'm discounting all your opinions because you are all agreeing with eachother so that should not be of any surprise. Stop being thick headed. Stop assuming just because you get all emotional about an issue everyone else gets that way too.
And yo bring up things like rape and losing a limb that are generally worse than things in high school. Seriously, if you can't deal with it in high school, you won't be able to do things later on. And school is different than real life. People rarely ****ing care what happened to you in high school. If you go around talking about it with a lot of people normally, maybe that might be why you aren't completely happy socially right now.

You're dodging what I said. And you're making a fool out of yourself in the process. Plonk? Come on.

evidently he was so sure of what happened to me, he didnt even need to read my post, since he says high school and i said JHS (is it only new yorkers who recognize the abbreviation for JUNIOR high school?)
I didn't recognize it. I just thought it was your schools' initials: Jefferson High School, or something like that.
How small are we talking about, by the way, and was it public or private? I think that the small private schools are really different than public schools.

Oh public school-- I lived in a town of less than 2000 and our high school had around 200 students from grades 7-12. My graduating class was 31 folks, 22 boys and 9 girls. There were 28 couple at the grad as there was 2 couples within the grade and 1 no-show.
And it was a prety backwater town in rural Newfoundland

=Yeah, but you werent posting all about MY experiences, or telling me that you understood them better than i did. Youd think someone doing THAT would have at least read the post closely, and might even have read my earlier posts in which I said Id gone to Stuyvesant HS (yes, SHS) , and liked it.

We had a bully that liked to pick on kids 2-3 grades younger and this was a big big kid. But one time when he went to pick on one person 3 of us jumped him and whaled on him pretty good. He never bothered any of us after that

I wasn't talking to only you at the time. This is what I mean. You think you're the one only getting the attention. So familiar.

See, bullying led to team building.
A lot of corporations pay big bucks to outside groups to get their employees to learn these skills.
