A fool and his money are soon parted.
Hell, think of it as wealth redistribution. I make ~22k per annum being grad student/TA/RA (including summer income). Most of these people make more, I'm sure.
Plus my extended family has enough people with gambling problems that I feel justified in being the one person with some sense who can make a little back of what they lose.
This is great. 8 months ago I'd played poker maybe twice and had never played hold 'em (had never even heard of it)
After 1 day a week with my friends for 8 months I'm reasonably certain of my ability to consistently win a significant amount of money online every time I choose to play. God bless an innate ability to do combinatorics and the discipline to put this into action.
Hold em sucks, Omaha hi-lo is fun. In fact, I'm heading right now to poker room com to play Omaha. If you can, look me up on the $100-200 tables if they're open. If not, I'll be on a smaller table...
KH you remind me of me. I paid a significant portion of my college expenses playing poker. Of course I had to do it the old fashioned way, playing with people face to face. That's a little harder, as they get to know your style and avoid you if you don't put a lot of effort into being pleasant.
He's got the Midas touch.
But he touched it too much!
Hey Goldmember, Hey Goldmember!
Actually. Pocket Ace losing out to an AK story is ALL TOO COMMON. Its the poker version of "My tank lost to spearmen" story. The memory of the loss just sticks out so damn well.
Besides AK is one hell of a versatile card. Especially if its suited? Mmm Mmm Mmm...
As for never fold on pocket Ace? Depends on the situation. In this case it was all in on pre flop so I do feel u, You did everything that you were supposed to do. But Pocket Ace isnt God mode... Most inexperienced ones make that mistake.
You need to learn to drop them good hands. That comes with discipline.
slowplay is where the money is made
You dont slow play pocket ace. Terrible Idea. When your clearly in the lead with a high pair you don't wanna give free flops. Risking all the players with possible flush/straight hands to continue?Thats just dumb.
