Why did you agree to it, if you didn't think it was fair? And you can't complain about something you agreed to - because you agreed to it!

Are people still bothering to argue with kidicious.??

That exercize is futile. I saw that back twenty threads ago when he steadfastly maintained that charging ANY interest on a loan is oppressive.

I may think it's immoral, but that doesn't mean it should be outlawed. Just like wrt insulting people.

Also, just a quick detour into your normal complaint about "less than what my work is worth":

Say I spend thousands of hours and milliions of dollars building a machine that magically produces top-of-the-line computers, without having to put in any resources or anything. All that has to be done for the machine to make a computer is for someone to push a button. Would I be exploiting you if I paid you 'only' five dollars every time you pushed the button, even though the computer it creates is worth several thousand dollars?

Fine. Just don't claim that capitalism is a moral system then.

No. You would just be stupid.

            Why not?!

People who are religious can believe in religious freedom, even the freedom to do things they believe are immoral (like gay sex), without undermining religious freedom as a moral system.

No. You would just be stupid.

            Gotcha!

You have just admitted that the worth of someone's labor is NOT the value of what they end up producing, if they happen to be using some labor-saving device (a means of production)! Your whole philosophy has just crumbled to dust.

Sure it's futile when you can't maintain the consistency of your own argument.

And yes you do have to argue with me. This non-argument doesn't cut it.

No. The value of labor is not the wage they are paid or the market price of what they produce. It's the amount of labor they put in.

Nope, I don't have to argue with you and any attempt to coerce me to do so would be oppressive

Seriously-- kid you approach everything with a worldview and set of underlying assumptions which are unsupportable to me ( and to the bulk of posters on here). Your views seem to be ingrained and are self-supporting and in many ways circular. ( and yes you probably feel the same way about my views)

I participated in a couple of the grand debates and have watched a couple of more . I will probably look in on the next installment as well .. . but thats all I will do

What assumptions, and yes I do feel the same way about your assumptions. Sorry in advance for oppressing you.

It's like a train wreck, huh? Look, I'm fully aware of my basic failure to convince many people. It's much harder than you might think. People react with hostility, and close up.

Ah! So if you make, say, five pairs of shoes with tons of effort, whereas I use some labor-saving device and spend almost no effort to make 200 pairs of shoes, you ought to be paid more than I?

Duh! I want to be free to insult people, even if I'm not actually going to do it. Moreover, what gives YOU the right to force ME to stick with YOUR morality?

You need to ask yourself why we don't both use the labor saving devise.

Strange opinion. We both agree that something is immoral but you want both of us to be free to do it. I don't understand your logic.

That's because you're a ****ing ******. Go read Mill or something. Have you been living in a cave your whole life? Have you ever HEARD of this thing called liberty? Religious freedom? If I'm a Christian, should I support laws banning homosexuality? The concept of liberty is that, if your actions don't harm anyone without their concent, then I have no ****ing right to stick my nose in.
