Who knows how many other governors were in the closet? He's the first ex-governor who has said he was gay at least.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
- John 13:34-35 (NRSV)

He's not ex-governor yet. He isn't resigning until Nov.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

The implication is that he was having the affair with Cipel and that is why he brought him over and put him on the payroll. That would at least be borderline criminal.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Seems Schwarzenegger was right, they are girlie men. At least some of 'em.
BTW, it seems ridiculous to me that he would have to resign over something like this. Unless he lied about it or broke the law or something. Maybe it's to prevent the corruption allegations from being investigated?

The corruption and gay affair could indeed be interrelated.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

It's true as someone noted though, it must be tough on the wife, all of a sudden having her husband resign from public office "because he's gay", and most likely having the media report on the matter for weeks to come. That has to be a terrible situation for her to be in.
Unless she's gay as well.

His wife is hot. How could he cheat on her with another man?'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

Which is why Imran's conspiracy theory sounds so credible... what if he just made it up to gather sympathies from the (liberal US mid-atlantic) public, therefore trying to avoid getting flak from the corruption charges (which will now be completely forgotten because of the massive media spin)?
