Cleopatra was a Pletolomy so she most certainly was at least partially Greek. Given the Greek's additude about the greatness of Greekness and the barbarism of everyone else she was likely pure blood. In fact in their hay day the Pletolomies had brothers marry sisters just so they wouldn't dilute the blood line.

Ahhh, a good website on Cleopatra. Her father was Ptolemy XII, her first husband was her brother Ptolemy XIII. She and her brother/husband struggled for control of the Kingdom when Cleoptra allied herself with Julius Caesar.

When she was 22 she seduced Ceaser by giving him a hand woven carpet with her naked self wrapped inside it. Together she and Ceaser defeated her brother and had him killed. After that Cleoptra was forced to marry her younger brother Ptolemy XIV though she never the less quickly became Ceaser's lover and she had his son, Caesarion.

When Julius Ceaser was assassinated Rome fell into Civil War between Mark Antony and Octavian. Cleopatra sided with Mark Antony and she also took him as a lover. Romans hated the idea of a foreign Empress and they hated even more that Antony gave parts of the middle east to his girlfriend to rule.

BTW here's a good quote on Cleopatra's decent.

The Ptolemies were of Macedonian descent, yet they ruled Egypt as Egyptians - as Pharaohs. And, indeed, Cleopatra was the last Pharaoh.

The Ptolemies saw most of the of Europe and the middle east fall to the Romans and as city after city fell into the Romans hands they allied themselves with Rome to prevent Egypt from being conquored by Rome. Never the less Romans arranged things so that they got a bigger and bigger say in how Egypt was run and Cleopatra seems to have been trying to find a way to save her family's royal status. She saught to marry into the Roman ruling elite. She openly sought to place her & Julius Ceaser's son as both the Emperor of Rome and the Pharaoh of Egypt. Unluckily for her she sided with the wrong side in the Roman civil war and she was forced to commit suicide before Octavius could have her publicly executed.

It's common knowledge here in Iraq plus the Iraqi courts have indicted Sadr for the murder.

And that was a good thing for Rome. Imagine more of the dynasty crap carrying on...

Perhaps you mean the BRITISH, as in Great Britain.

First called so when ENGLAND and SCOTLAND and the Principality of WALES had the same monarch, James VI and I.

The United Kingdom comprises the province of Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, with associated territories such as the Channel Islands.

There is a difference between English and British, you know.
