If it is established that men cannot donate sperm without fear of being hit with a child support payment, men will not donate sperm and women will lose the ability to get pregnant this way should they choose.

Az, you really need to work on that trolling more. That wasn't even laughably lame, let alone interesting or provoking.

$1600 per month is almost $20k per year. That's a huge chunk out of any man's income. I'd be tempted to move to Brazil just so I wouldn't have to pay this unjust verdict. The lesson learned is trust no one and get it in writing.

I would also recommend getting a written form before hitting it in any case, to prevent misery after condom breaking, etc.

I think he should pay. Think of the children!

no seriously. I'm just looking for some consistancy in these rulings.

isn't that better than men-biased justices?

So, you would like to have the risk of having to pay up for something that is not your fault?

He almost deserves it for relying on a verbal contract.

But since the court apparently accepts the existence of the contract, he should not have been forced to pay.
Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

How is any different from just unprotected sex that leads to pregnancy?
Firstly, verbal contract that she has decided to go back on, though thats not a legal argument, just an ethical one. Secondly, the sperm was provided on an anonymous basis, and whereas the man is responsible for his ejaculation leading to conception, his ejaculation here did not, and it was her actions and that of her doctors ( ) that lead to conception. Effectively, she's taken his DNA and misused it under the terms of their agreement, or rather broken the terms of that agreement where he merely provides his sperm and is not responsible for the ensuing pregnancy.
