I always thought that "girlie men" was an invention/exaggeration by Hanz and Franz. Is this life imitating art (if Saturday Night Live could be called "art")?
This is more like life immitating art, immitating art, immitating life.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
I think that it is fairly obvious that the ppl of the US feel like they are being ignored and brushed aside for international issues (namely the war). The Governator actually addresses the issues of the people (which is easier being a governor and not a president or senator) which he knows as they were the issues that got Davis thrown out. The people want jobs, they want their kids to be educated, they want to be able to afford what they need as well as a few things that they want. Them dems have always stimmied budgets, and have now pretty much took money out the hands of the schools by not allowing them to have projects go to the lowest bidder because the politicians in Sacramento are so implanted in the pockets of the lobbies. Here, Arnie is right, and is doing what he said he would do; not bow to special interest.
Notice, Arnold is addressing the peoples issues and not special interest. That is what will get him elected a second time.
For those who keep saying that CA is very liberal note that it is mainly two areas; The South, and San Fran. Bay Area that are overly liberal. Before Davis we had Pete Wilson for 8 years, a very conservative Republican. Before that was Brown (a dem) and before that Reagan (a repub.)... Yeah, the idiots in this state put moronic senators in power like Feinstein and Boxer, but I think the people here aren't complete morons. Even SF elected Gavin Newsom who, IMO, is a more conservative Democrat than we have had before.

Yes, but will it get his budget passed?

Why do people always seem to think that treating your employees like **** and paying them even less than before will result in better service and better quality of life overall? Treat your school employees like dirt and you get the situation you have today, with good teachers burning out and leaving for better paying jobs while janitors work multiple jobs to be able to afford a place to live.
Sticking up for working people
Pretending that standing up for the majority is being bought by special interests
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
The unions and trial lawyers are decidely not the majority, che.

Working people and those represented by trial lawyers are.

I really hate how the Left uses the term "working people" because they only include the working people they like. If you are not union, you are not "working". Heck, if you make more than 40,000 a year, you are not "working".
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"
G'Kar - from Babylon 5 episode "Z'ha'dum"
I like how you say how I use words. Your telepathic abilities are trulely astounding. Have you considered going to Vegas or getting on TV with this amazing ability of yours?
Or is it possible you don't know what the left thinks at all? The majority of Americans are working class. Only a small minority are in unions. Thus, it is not possible that workers only means those in unions. Furthermore, dockworkers can make over 100,000 a year, and they're clearly workers.
MtG, while trial lawyers and unions ain't perfect, the world's a much better place for them being here. Without trial lawyers, the government and the very powerful could do what they want to us little folks with no effective opposition. And when unions are broken, whole communities suffer from the loss of jobs and income. Even if you aren't covered by a union, the threat of unionization is frequently enough for some companies to offer better job conditions and wages.

Unions and trial lawyers serve their purposes, but the California Trial Lawyers Association is nothing but corrupt scum out to enrich themselves, without giving a **** less about their clients or any underlying legal principles, or any concept of equity.
When all else fails, blame brown people. | Hire a teen, while they still know it all. | Trump-Palin 2016. "You're fired." "I quit."
