Actually, its $1.75 per year. The Greens pick up $7 dollars per vote over the course of a 4 year mandate.

This is why I vote Green - they are the only ones with a new perspective. Voting for major parties just ensures we stay on the old-world merry-go-round where nothing really changes.

0.1/10 on the troll meter ( I think I am pretty much the only "Newfie" on here.) But you score well in the threadjacking category and along with Tinkai, score 10 for 10 in both ignorance and idiocy

On the election, the voting station here is in a church hall with all the windows closed . With a forecast in the high 20s, it will be an oven in there.

But ASHER, voting is ALWAYS worthwhile . .. WHY?? because we can vote and there are billions who never have that opportunity. So VOTE.

I wasn't sure if this was sarcasm or not, but in case it isn't...

People shouldn't vote just for the sake of voting, that's how you break democracy. Only vote if you are informed, know what the party stands for, and agree with it.

If you don't know anything about the parties, or don't know of one that you agree with, the best thing for you to do is NOT VOTE.

                  .
It wasn't sarcasm. I think EVERYONE should vote*... I make the effort every time even if my riding will be a huge landslide . This is practice renders my vote largely irrelevant in that it changes no results but it is never irrelevant to exercise the right.

                  * The term "vote" includes making the necessary effort to inform oneself to the degree necessary to make an intelligent choice. Even if you dislike ALL the choices, the candicates are never identical and interchangeable so there should always be one that qualifies as least offensive to you.

Following up, someone like Asher is relatively well informed and would have some competing concerns in ascertaining who to vote for. It would atually be an interesting thought process since where exactly can a homosexual fiscal conservative park his vote??The NDP would be the opposite of Asher fiscally and he has railed against the Liberals so long and loud that I can't see a vote for them. That leaves the Conservatives, although their stand on homosexual issues isn't exactly designed to appeal to a gay voter. What matters more, overall fiscal beliefs OR do you vote on the single issue?

Also the candidates . .. I have voted for candidates when I disagreed with their party's views when I believed that candidate would provide strong representation.

There are a ton of things to assess so VOTE

Asher should vote for the Progressive Canadian Party, or the legalize pot folk.

I paid more attention to the Mongolian elections.

Now Agathon, I don't think Asher is that stupid to vote for any party that has the word "progressive" in its title.

Flubber, I'm faced with the same thing in the US. I vote if they can match say 80-90% of my views, or at least a majority.

Until recently, our main conservative party was called the "Progressive Conservatives". Have formed a number of governments, too, both nationally and provincially. In fact, in most provinces, they retain that name.
