I can understand the confusion... The "former" governor was George Ryan... and the former Attorney General was Jim Ryan. Ryan is a very popular name in Illinois politics. Jack Ryan has never run for any office before. As MtG pointed out, he was an investment banker, and in addition has been teaching for the last three years.
