Only the bigots here are against allowing homosexual couples to do the same thing as heterosexual couples can do in public. Kissing and holding hands. That doesn't harm anybody. So the only hypocrite here is you, Rogan.
This is one of the rare issues where Fezcarlo is correct.
Would you care to point out which of his statements was bigotted? It certainly seems to me that PA has been taking a lot more **** than he has been thrown in this thread.
But I am sure it isn't your fault. I am sure that someone has complained to you about PA expressing his opinion. So, in the cause of fairness, let me make an officail complaint about the following posts (I didn't have to go far back either):
Why shouldn't he be ridiculed, like all bigots? I find it very hard to have any level of civility towards the hateful. Life would be so much easier for a lot of people if they let people live their lives how they wanted to live. It alarms me that people do have some level of credibility for spouting this level of hate. Have you ever considered that I find what Stew and Ben Kenobi says highly offensive...and I think these views are highly offensive to anyone who values equality and civil liberties. The more people are ridiculed and ostracised for holding these, quite frankly, unpleasant and hateful views, perhaps the sooner it will be stamped out.

I don't expected to be told how to live my life, what to do, how to do it. I resent anyone who tries to force society to adapt to their shortcomings. Tell me, Stew has been to uni and has seen gay people before...like anyone of my age (in fact, he is a good bit younger than I am) should be quite used to it. Yet why does it still make him feel uncomfortable? Let's face it, he is hardly the most prolific of heterosexuals, if you get my drift.

In my humbled opinion, I think all these anti-gay people secretly have homosexual leanings of their own... and they are too scared, or unable to deal with them on an emotional level so they lash out at homosexuals to compensate for their own inadequacies. But that's just my opinion.

And me resenting to have to adapt to society? I live my life on my own terms. I am not expecting changes in the law to make it mandatory that any woman I fancy has to sleep with me now, am I?

So why do you make offensive comments in response?
Giancarlo: why are you allowed to have an opinion about what is acceptable behaviour in public but PA is not? Why is he a 'bigot' for disagreeing with your opinion?
Because they are someone who I know personally and for a good while, and know they are full of sh*t. I know that Stew should know better...and it annoys me...do you think it is something that stems from hate? Because it isn't...Stew is a friend.

Well you still made a good post. Reasonable points, no ad hominem fallacies so we can make you an honorary liberal jk
What a bunch of hypocrites
I, for one, would not advocate making a behaviour illegal on the basis that it makes me uncomfortable, and some ad hoc argument to justify that.

We can extract the urine for sure but I wouldn’t let that form part of an intellectual position, since if bigoted opinions go unchallenged, then intellectually deficient views may be allowed to take hold. Basic ad hominem fallacy can occur, though we can attack credibility and character that is secondary to the argument.
And yet there's you resenting ever having to adopt to society.
People invariably adapt to society far more than they attempt to change it, yet when decent people see injustice I would like to think that they would say something about it, as illustrated perfectly by the pro-gay marriage arguments on this thread. Furthermore, people shouldn’t have to adapt to something they feel is wrong morally or ethically deficient in society, so your position of “that’s the way it is, I love the status quo so put up or shut up” simply isn’t good enough. I think you’ll find the status quo heading in a far more pro-gay direction than some may care to admit, and as a result there are a lot more happy people within their own sexualities

One is not a bigot for disagreeing. One is a bigot for saying that one way of life, one person(s) etc is necessarily deficient or inferior to another. Read narrow minded.

that's not a prerequisite for being a liberal... I'm considered a liberal and I insult people all the time!

What if you are a very nice woman who can't find a man? Shouldn't you have the same benefits as a married couple.
Then single people are also discriminated against, in a similar manner.
You are demanding rights that do not exist. There is no right to recieve the benefits of marriage, simply a right to be married. Any gay person does not lose his right to be married, so long as he can find a nice woman to marry him, the same as anyone else. If for whatever reason you do not want to marry, that is your choice, and you should not expect to receive the same benefits as those who do choose to marry.
Why are you always so belligerent when it comes to distorting the argument?
I'm angry that I am not able to have a marriage recognized with a potential partner of the same gender -- not because I want to marry someone of the opposite gender.
This is an example of presenting an argument that is not even proposed by majority of gays in the first place.
Stop the distortions such as these -- they're retarded and it only shows how much you either lack in argumentative skills, or how much you lack in ethics by deliberately using such distortions when you know in fact, that they are distortions.
