Study says "For Profit" hospitals cost more than non-profits
Holy hell, that post was just too long for me. That one will have to wait till tomorrow afternoon when I'm bored at work again.
In the mean time, I'm off to TO for the night.

By the way, if you want 2 variables with the same name but different actual variables, the usual convention is to name them differently or add a subscript.
If you don't, it means they're the same.
Just FYI.

So you see that CostOfProduction was meant to be assumed the same in both equations.
Your assuming one was representing a free market, while another a command market, is inconsistant with usual naming convention.
Obviously everyone in the world knows all of Spiffor's political leanings.
I sure hope so!

Except for the 40+ million of us without health coverage.
For the special ones in the audience: Medicare and Medicaid are for those WITHOUT insurance. They are state funded programs. Not having insurance does not equate having no avenue for medical care.
Moron. Get out from under your rock and read for a change. Three pages of on thread posts should have educated you by now.
Not everyone can get on Medicare and Medicaid though, and even those who do it takes time. Necessary medical care doesn't wait.
I don't exactly know how Medicare and Medicaid work. I was covered for a very short time by Medicaid for medication (which I was trying I was trying to get off of at the time) and put on SSI for a longer time after ~$20k of hospital bills when I was 17-18. My parent's insurance covered some of it (the 20k was after they had paid their coverage, and one uncovered hospital stay). SSI is not insurance in and of itself, but it helped cover/pay back some of the bills. I've been uninsured ever since.
I know I could get back on SSI eventually if needed, but it won't pay back past expenses very quickly (without my parent's insurance I would still have been at least 80k in the hole after what I got from SSI), which would be necessary to incure to get to the point I need SSI. Make any sense?
I didn't say they wouldn't treat you. They do try to collect afterwards.
I didn't qualify for Medicare. SSI did help, took a few months before I was able to get on it. No way it could have covered my costs on it's own even if I had been on it from the start (it was $300 a month in Idaho at the time). To put it bluntly, SSI would have taken over 300 months (25 years) to pay back my medical costs in those few months. That's not even what it's meant for, it's meant to cover living expenses.

I remember the skullless woman like you. I remember the community paid for the immediate lifesaving intervention, but refused to pay for anything that wasn't immediately life-threatening (like sewing the skull back)
Maybe that's a reason why preventive medicine is so poor in the US. Even myself, I've heard a few times Americans complaining about some possible disease without trying to check it at the doctor's: too expansive.
Also, maybe that's a reason why ER is so clogged.
