The problem with using the term "black" is that a lot of so-called blacks are not black. My cousin's husband's skin colour is more kind of dark brown.

If people are going to whine about how the term "African-American" isn't accurate, then why aren't they whining about the inaccuracy of the term "black"?

Well for most African-Americans they're tracing back their family four hundred years. I don't know where my family was four hundred years ago. Maybe I do have African ancestry. But you'd think I was being an ass. You'd only do it for people with brown skin. This is a race issue.

Well, Black people demanded to be called Black, so I don't see a problem. But you tangentially raise an interesting point. If people have a problem with African-American, why don't they have a problem with Black. In fact, why aren't they demanding to be able to use "Negro" or even "colored?"

Yes, it is. BUt the grand difference is that white people in Africa consider themselves white and Europeans-why then should we consider them not white or European?

The grand inconsistency is with the people's of nothern Africa, but then they don't consider themselves "African" either- you don't see them wanting to get involved in the Organization of African Unity much.

Besides, as was said before, Europe is just a damned big penninsula of Asia, yet Europeans won't come to their sense and call themselves Asian, now will they?
