    at Far til Fire!

Look, if we lose one in the preliminaries, it will be in order to lure our opponents into a false sense of security. That is something the Danish side has always been extremely good at. Just think of the 37 year period where we didn't win a single match against the Swedes, despite playing them at least once a year. They felt so secure in the end, we were able to completely surprise them and win a game. And the crowds went mad.

You guys are going to be surprised a lot in group D. Much as I love the Dutch team, I don't believe they will make it out of the group this year. I think the Czezchs and Latvians will.

I'd love them to go far. In fact, apart from my own nation, there is no team I'd like more to win the European Championships than the Latvians

Winston, judging from your previous posts, you do seem to like statistics. Now, are you aware of the fact that the only major tournament we have ever won seems to correspond nicely with the only tournament for which we have not recorded some idiotic pop song to accompany the team? Coincidence or..?

Well, I don't think the Latvians could get much far . I base my prediction, though, on other factors. Germany is looking very uninspiring to say the least, no brilliant young players, and their performances in friendly ain't too good. Netherlands has got an excellent team, absolutely. I don't know where the problem is, but their performance is extremely uninspiring however. Netherlands-Ireland last night... nah, if they play anything like that, they have no chance. Czechs, though, seem to be going very strong now. Latvia, I know no one really considers them seriously, but we knocked out Turkey not by pure luck or coincidence! Besides, our top forward now keeps scoring in every game.

Usually, I'm rooting for the underdog and I loved every second of that match. Of course, I was slightly concerned as Winston had warned me beforehand that in case of a Turkish defeat, several Copenhagen suburbs including mine would turn into war zones.

Did they record a pop song this time around?

If they did, it's a significant statistical trend we're seeing. If they didn't, then probably it was just coincidence.

Also, 1992 coincided with the Royal silver wedding anniversary. This time, Frederik and Mary will return from their honeymoon just in time for the kickoff. It all falls into place.

And yes Latvia will have a lot of sympathy if they do well.

Oh yes, and it's more embarrasing than ever before. Sure, classics such as 'Re-sepp-ten' were respectable, but this particular Birthe Kjær and Safri Duo creation is just outrageous.
