Actually, it's glycogen, and it's stored in the adipose (brown fat cells).

      Ever heard of beta-oxidation, doctor?

One question not related to this topic: why is it NORMAL in the US to sue for the stupidest reasons in the world? I don't get it
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

he voluntairly chose to do the diet, so i dont see why he has a lawsuit.

Those commericials are only being run because someone with a book said people on low carb diets should stay away from beer because beer has lots of carbs. This was completely false so the beer companies just want to go out and correct that.

Beer does have lots of carbs. Hasn't stopped me from drinking beer.

Muscles are much denser then fat aren't they? This doesn't seem right.
Yet another example of anti-Atkins people not knowing what they are saying. The diet points out that because muscle weighs more than fat, it's likely that if you follow the diet properly, you will get slimmer even though you aren't losing weight.

The diet isn't perfect, but I don't see the reason for the massive hostility.

                        Chegitz is right

                        Atkins is a solid diet

I used to tell people all the time 10 years ago about how the food pyramid sucks and there should be less carbs, more protein, and more veggies in it. Starchy carbs like flour, white rice, and white potatoes are useless. They are okay every once in a while but whole grains OWN and oatmeal is the best.

It is indeed possible to not lose any weight but to look slimmer and more muscular. Your body composition is most important.

I haven't been on Atkins but I know people that have gone through it and it does work. The first two weeks are hard where you don't use carbs, but after that you stabalize and don't feel like crap any more.

                            http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/diet...t.ap/index.html

what I find strange, or disturbing rather, is this lawsuit is being funded by a vegan group. Clearly they have an agenda.

But apparantly this guy did have his arteries clogged by this diet. Or should we say allegedly.

                            from the CNN article:

"Gorran, 53, said Thursday he started the diet in May 2001 because his weight had risen from 140 to 148 pounds. In two months, he said, his cholesterol rose from a normal 146 to an unhealthy 230, and by October 2003, he needed heart angioplasty to clear his arteries"
I've heard htta that shizzznitty diet leaves you w/ massive liver and kidney problems 20 yrs after. My mom is doing "the south beach diet" which is like atkins light or something. I keep telling her its's not worth it, but she won't listen.

But, anyways. A vegetarian diet is the epitome of a healthy diet. It keeps you going, you don't have to worry about diseases and all that nasty stuff you get from meat, and it keeps you fit. A few months after becoming vegetarian, I had to buy a belt to keep my pants up. Now, about two-three years after, I've had to poke another hole in my belt. (And no, I'm not all skin and bones. My pants are just big - I never thought of myself as fat, but damn. )
