Not true. You're losing water bound up with glycogen (?), about ten pounds or so.
There isn't that much excess water in a normal person's body, che. Unless you got some kind of kidney disorder or something.

I invite people to investigate for themselves what actual research has discovered instead of just taking some person's opinion on the matter.
I did look at your cites. None of them showed Aktins is markedly superior to a normal low fat diet at the end of a year.

Do you actually have your own thoughts on this MM, or are you just a parrot?
SQUAWK!!!
Seriously, I don't like this plan, and I doubt the science behind it.
I admit to not knowing much about biochemistry, so when I have the opinion of two people I know who do, and are against it, one stridently so, I tend to believe them over a corporation whose very existance depends on the plan.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

sure you can't take Atkins at face value, why be a fool? But the contrary studies I've seen have all been paid for by either Vegans or rival companies...

Cuz everyone knows Consumer Reports can be bought and paid for.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Depends on whether you're at a healthy weight or not, doesn't it. Sure, skinny people don't have excess water.

One would think that if the diet were so fundamentally flawed that a college biology book would destroy it, the media would have let us know by now. They seem to relish destroying things even if there is only a minor inkling of something not right. I point you to the death of one Atkins, how played up was his weight, when he died from a head injury and had some infection in the hospital?
I'm sure you're friends are intelligent MM, but come on, if some undergrad could point out a flaw by looking in their textbooks, why hasn't a reputable source?

I'm beginning Atkins as soon as I come back from my trip in Switzerland (I have a volleyball tournament to attend and I don't want to faint right in the middle of the match )
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

What is this bit about excess water?
I think it's because muscle tissue has less water than fat tissue.
Boris, A. robustus was the size of a chimp. All australopithicines ate mostly fruits and veggies. The robusts ate fresh grass and roots while the graciles ate mostly leaves and fruit. Both did a little scavanging on the side. Our brains didn't start getting bigger until we were forced to scavange more as Africa got drier 2.5 million years ago.
So the vegans are full of BS.
An interesting thing I've read is that much of the trouble with cholesterol is actually from stress. The stress hormone, cortisol, is made from cholesterol. The terms "good" and "bad" cholesterol are misleading. What we call good cholesterol, HDL, is the cholesterol-transporting enzyme when it is empty. LDL is when the enzyme is transporting cholesterol. Since cortisol is made from cholesterol, when you are under stress your LDL levels rise as your body makes more Cholesterol to make into cortisol.
Also, people who's ancestors ate lots of meat, like Europeans, cattle herding black africans, and north Asians, are more resistant to dietary cholesterol than people who's ancestors ate very little meat, like west africans/African Americans, New Gunieans and south Asians.

Even rotund people don't have excess water as long as you are healthy and don't have strange disorders.
Even though fat tissues got more water, it's still within normal range.
