Don't call it a non-goal, even the Tampa Bay Tribune concedes it was a goal now.

I really hope Gary Bettman and the other NHL execs make a trip to Calgary sometime soon. I think they're the most hated men in Calgary's history right now."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

^ Oh, come on, Asher. Did you watch the ABC feed tonight? They did a computer reconstruction of the shot based on the one replay they had, and concluded it was about 3/4 of the way across the line, but not all the way over. All it takes is a couple inches of elevation to change where that puck ultimately was and still look like it was in from that angle.
You wanna *****, ***** about the fact that the Flames played like crap for 50 minutes and Iginla completely ran out of gas in games 6 & 7.
And Sava, if you think this year's playoffs were worse than last year's, I gotta ask if you wear glasses -- if so, check the prescription; if not, get them. That game 7, at least the last ten minutes, was way better than the snooze-fest that was last year's NJ/Anaheim game 7, and never mind the rest of the playoffs. Unless you actually like Minnesota/Anaheim-style series, that is, in which case there's just no hope for ya ."If you doubt that an infinite number of monkeys at an infinite number of typewriters would eventually produce the combined works of Shakespeare, consider: it only took 30 billion monkeys and no typewriters." - Unknown

This was one of the best playoffs that I've ever seen, hands-down.
Beats the crap out of the preceding 8 years of NewJersey-Detroit-Colorado-Dallas-repeat bullcrap.
And to be fair to Iggy: he didn't ENTIRELY run out of gas... he just wasn't hitting quite the hits he did earlier, in part due to fatigue, but also due to Tampa's tightening D. He still had a few great plays in the last 120 minutes."I wrote a song about dental floss but did anyone's teeth get cleaner?" -Frank Zappa

Sutter said it wasn't a goal because he didn't want the team fixated on it, and needed to move on since he knew nothing would be done. He thought the Flames would play harder thinking they lost that game legitly than if they played hard enough to win. I thought that was obvious...
It wasn't conclusively a goal, the ref called nothing: hence, it was not a goal.
Would you like the NHL to reverse its call, even though it was correct, and give the Cup to Calgary?
'Cause I assure you, they would not accept it. No one wants to win on a technicality. But we don't have to worry about that, because, hey, it was not a goal.
Congrats to Calgary on a great season, even though they came up in short in the end... fair and square."I wrote a song about dental floss but did anyone's teeth get cleaner?" -Frank Zappa

Sutter will get his wrist slapped now that it is over.
The officials were between a rock and hard place with those two teams. A highly skilled, puck carrying team vs. a grinding, dump and chase forechecking team. If you call a low amount of penalties, you benefit the Flames, and old-fashioned hockey fans love you for "letting them play". If you call more penalties, you benefit Tampa, and the segment of fans aching for more skill, no fighting (clutching, grabbing), etc. love you.

Nah that's just a weak attempt to save the face of NHL. It was in........................ because our papers said so.In da butt.

Winning on a technicality would be forcing a game 7 on an obvious goal because the league has a policy not to change the outcome of a game after it happened."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Andreychuk contributed leadership to his team while playing hard-nosed hockey night-in and night-out.
Sitting on the puck, giving yourself an edge in faceoffs, working guys hard into the boards, finishing checks... that's the type of inglorious, ugly hockey that Dave excels at. Just because he doesn't have the flash of a Vinny or a St. Louis, doesn't mean he didn't contribute."I wrote a song about dental floss but did anyone's teeth get cleaner?" -Frank Zappa
