      Quentin Tarantino: American

Very tight with Harvey Weinstein, producer and owner of the rights to "Fahrenheit 9/11"...

      Benoit Poelvoorde: Belgian

Belgian? Might as well be French...

Edwige Danticat: google search suggests "Haitian"

Haiti? The France of the Caribbean...

      Emmanuelle Bart: France

      French...

      Jerry Schatzberg: American

Hasn't done any work in America since 1988. Now makes movies in, you guessed it, France...

      Kathleen Turner: American

      Plays a convincing transvestite...

      Peter von Bagh: Finnish

      Eurocom...

      Tilda Swinton: UK

Scottish. Scotland, of course, often sought assistance and sometimes alliance with France in it's fight against the English...

      Tsui Hark: Hong-Kong

Was raised in Saigon during the 1950's. Who ruled Vietnam (or should we call it Indochina?) during that period?

      I rest my case...

You know...no one here has actually SEEN this movie. Perhaps it really is good enough to win this award?

Oh, no, it never could be though...it's ALWAYS about politics.

it can also be about politics, inside the movie itself.

cannes are not oscars where very weak films albeit easily digestable are usually getting the price. in order for a film to be strong it needs to also have a poignant message/perspective and many times politics are that. it's not like it is about special effects.

and if im not mistaken cannes has a tradition of honouring critisizing movies, such as that belgian one about the failure of the social democrats in europe etc it's a different kind of awards in some respects.

No one cares. The better and more plausible reason for the win is the sympathy bid Moore made a play at before the festival.

Yeah, being a Haitian-American just means he's a traitor rather than a foreign insurgent.

                            congrats Michael Moore.

I actually want to see this film released, because I think it will backfire and people will hate liberals even more

and I must protest americans being labled as fat.

The WHO is launching a campaing against global obesity. The U.S. isn't the only fat nation.

So stop labling us as fat!
