You little patronizing piece of ****, why do you think I don't understand this? I didn't claim it was wrong to have an 'unknown soldier's tomb'. I just said that the entire rite that the guards have to go through is unneeded. You can continue to bash your ****ing head against the wall.

It's so fun to descend to your level.

And how does that interpret into saying that "unnamed soldiers tombs are immoral"?

Furthermore, you wouldn''t have the first ****ing clue what has worth or is needed by other people and what does not, except as it impinges on your own little section of distorted reality. Apparently, you don't have the first clue that respect should be shown to customs and traditions that are important to others. Now you cry out that respect is not returned to you.

          Cry me a river, whiner!

The fact that these rites are important to other doesn't prevent me at all from criticizing them, if that I see that this is necessary. Rites aren't sacred. There is nothing wrong about an honest debate about them. The mocking and ridiculing of them are wrong, but that's different.

Then why do you do it? Complete with smilies.

Did you not gain a clue from an American questioning your tact in this thread? Or did you think that nobody would notice what a **** you amount to?

And in closing... I am pretty sure there is a lot of hyperbole in the bit quoted in the OP. I'm pretty sure that restrictions of not speaking for 6 months or not swearing or drinking FOR LIFE... were exagerated just a wee tad.

But that isn't what you went after. No. You went after the tomb and the men who patrol it. In short, you deserve whatever pooh is flung at you. Maybe not by me for much longer, but whatever.

nye, no offense but how are your posts any more respectful of the IDF's traditions?

The IDF prides itself in having each of its dead named. The US doesn't. Each one is happy with it's own traditions. Big f*ucking hairy deal.

I'm going to use the phrase "big ****ing hairy deal" at least 5 times during the remainder of the day!

There is a bit of a knack to ceremonial. This one reads as rather forced.

Not helped by the writer. When you are reduced to using caps you know your basic tone is too strident. No one will ver accuse this one of under-statement.

But those involved seem to like it, and some of their audience.

The three minutes silence on armistace day is a rather simpler memorial which I sort of like. Fewer participate as the Great War and WWII recede into the collective memory. But I guess present events will give it more prominence next November 11th.

The question is who are you to question their sense of duty? You get so indignant about people questioning your understanding of honor that you forgot that you did the very same thing. If you can question the soldiers of the old guard then surely your not above NYE questioning yours...

Azazel brought that up first. If he couldnt take the IDF being questioned then he should have never brought it up. You can't ridicule one way, bring up your own example of how its supposed to be and expect the other party not to respond...

Of course the smart thing to do is to refrain from ridiculing either tradition but that's not likely to happen here...

That's what got me stirred up at the thread start, Sprayber.

Not any acknowledgement over tradition and devotion, just rolling of eyes and downcast thumbs.
