True, but you need to be an LSE student to use it. Also, isn't it the High Holborn residence union around the corner? I thought the LSE didn't have a union bar, but used the University of London ones. Although I could be wrong. The site EiF gave does tend to think it's pricey for a Wetherspoons, but then, it is London, so surely it will be pricey for a usual Wetherspoons?

Nonsense. I've been in the LSE bar (the Three Tuns, I think?) a few times and never been asked for student ID never mind LSE student ID. It's not much of a bar though.Originally posted by Drogue

The KCLSU bar isn't too bad (and is dirt cheap) but you have to wander through the KCL corridors (it's like going back to school!) to get to it.
I don't recall it being any more expensive than any other Wetherspoons in London...The site EiF gave does tend to think it's pricey for a Wetherspoons, but then, it is London, so surely it will be pricey for a usual Wetherspoons?Visit the Vote UK Discussion Forum!

I've never been ID'd at the LSE bar.
The bastards at ULU wouldn't let me in though, even when I was a student at the University of London. All because my college's SU wasn't a part of the NSU.One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

That's because the Three Tuns isn't just an LSE union bar. It's a bar, that happens to be mostly LSE, on their grounds, but they won't ask for student ID, since it's not only for students, IIRC. At least that's what I was told when I was there.Originally posted by *End Is Forever*

The bar is run by the LSE SU and the prices are a lot cheaper than regular bars. Other details are almost inconsequential.

Yeah I've heard of that sort of thing happening. Different universities unions leaving the NUS, Bristol are planning on doing it ATM IIRC. It's all a bit crazy really, especially if bars won't let you in specifically because your union isn't part of the NUS.Originally posted by Dauphin

Bristol voted to leave, and the had another vote where they voted to stay.
Other than Imperial (my old college) UMIST and Southampton are the only other univesity SU's that I know of to be non-members. There are others, but I don't know which ones they are.One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

UMIST will shortly be welcomed back to the NUS fold following the merger with Manchester. With the exception of Imperial and Southampton, the only notable non-affiliates are in Scotland (Glasgow, Edinburgh, St Andrews).Originally posted by Dauphin
