to large military on grounds that it really isn't that much of our economy anyways

If the neo-cons hope to occupy the Islamic region and usher in democracy, there will have to be large amount of troops.

I don't see recruitment pools growing. Kids don't want to waste years of their lives in Iraq for Bush. Recruitment is dwindling. So how are the neo-cons going to accomplish their goals of toppling regimes and bringing forth democracy without a draft?

We are stretched to the limit in Iraq. And we're not going to be leaving any time soon. If the Bushies have their eyes set on Iran or Syria, their policies will fail without an adequate amount of troops.
To us, it is the BEAST.

They don't have to. We deliberately limit the number of people we take. We can expand the military just by letting more people in.

                For college, though?

                Recruitment is dwindling.

                Evidence?

The only recruitment problem that I've heard about is in the Reserves. Basically, rather than simply having more troops, we need more of the Army's specialized functions to be present in the makeup of the active duty Army. A draft would be more or less counterproductive in that respect. We don't need a draft, we need to restructure.

Besides once a draft is started, how would a president be viewed pulling out of it....DANGER DANGER DANGER!

Notice this is talking about a senator, not Bush. Give me a ****ing break thorn. There is no way they will bring back the draft. First off it is not necessary and it will be a strain on resources in sending poorly trained conscripts to Iraq.

This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

I'm not the one who needs to be educated. I already know US recruitment is stagnating. YOU are the one who needs the info, not me.
