  • Israel Kills Rantisi, New Hamas Leader.

A chopper fired rockets at a car Rantisi was in with a bodyguard and his son, all of whom are killed.

    Rantisi is clinically dead.

You can't count the Gaza Strip Hamas leadership on one hand now

Hopefully, it will send the Hamas leadership into even more disarray, just like the death of Yassin. Btw, just as I thought, there was no increase in casualties after his death.

    Indeed, .

Why not do this? Last time they popped the leader Hamas really didn't do anything much. All those who said all hell would break lose with Yassin were proven totally wrong.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

              How many dead bystanders?

              none.

I think some injured, but the missiles were quite accurate.

Trust me - it's a difficult thing. Many times after the rocket was launched, sometimes people would come from around the corner, and the pilot doesn't have enough time to divert the missile.

After we put ourselves at risk saving Sharon's political arse, he does this!?!?

              Excuse me?

Since when is killing terrorists against US or Israeli policy?

In the contrary - this weakens Hamas even further, reducing it's chances of taking over the Gaza Strip once Israel is out.

It's actually confirmed as being Israeli action? If so, .

OK, so it does deserve the bit.

Well, hell, Aggy, keep talking like that and maybe an intelligence group or two will put you on their hit list.

Has Hamas announced a successor yet?

                            Hamas didn't.

Rantisi self proclaimed himself to inherit Yassin's role. Now he's dead too.

The real leader of Hamas is Haled Mash'al, in Damascus (Syrian terror links, anyone?). Israel botched an assassination attempt at him in 1996. Mossad agents were caught, and traded for the realease of late Yassin form jail. Nasty bussiness.

I actually still can't see any IDF commentary - there are witness reports of a helicopter, but seems to be no official confirmation of it being an Israeli airstrike yet.
