Well the commission failed to break her resolve. And get her to say things that are not true... like some of the democrats want.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

I suppose that depends on whether you actually believe the purpose of the committee is to find out what went wrong and to make recommendations on lessons learned.

That's what it's supposed to be. It's really to cover up the Administration's cufk-up.

True true. But truth is Clinton will get away with it.

And for Democrats to engage in their own partisan attacks (the Democrat committee member trying to prevent Rice from explaining things and only wanting the title to the report... you aren't AN INTERESTED ATTORNEY, YOU MORON!)

Bob Kerrey sounds like a real *****, as well as several others.

From a news article concerning the testimony:

"I would like to finish my point," she said when he began speaking while she was.

"I didn't know there was a point," he [Ben-Veniste] replied."

They whine about wanting Rice to testify, then moan when she tries to give full answers to their questions. This commission is a joke, whose purpose is political.

Despite the platitudes about how well they're working together, the Committee has been acting like it was neutered. So the Dem's are *****ing and Condi, and Keane has been refusing to subpeona documents the Administration refuses to turn over or won't let the whole committee see them.

Keane is and interested party. He is one of the people who helped set up the failure in the first place. It would be like asking the captain of the Titanic to sit on the inquiry.

Toothless, ball-less, pointless. If this happened under Clinton or Gore, you can believe this commission would be ferocious, Ken Starr style.

Do you REMEMBER any Clinton commissions?!

Ken Starr was an Independant Counsel. That law was allowed to expire by both Dems and Reps after the Starr investigation.

That's what makes this politically damaging to the Bush administration: this was an initiative passed by the Congress and signed by Bush himself -- an opportunity Clinton certainly didn't have -- and yet the White House has been stonewalling the investigation.

Regardless of how the administration responded to terrorism before 9/11, their behavior after it lies in stark contrast to candidate Bush's promise to bring integrity and honesty back to the White House, and the inaugural claims that "the adults are back in charge".

I'm begining to see why the Admin was so reluctant to allow her to testify in public before the commission though if it collapses into partisan *****ing so easily.
