Whats your point? There'd still only be one winner and it still wound n't be ManU now, would it?
The fact is, knockout rounds are inferior to leagues in producing the better/best winner, but a compromise needed to be struck to reduce the number of games.
It's not ideal, and we'll get more fluke teams progressing in the CL, so that's what's going to happen. Bit of a pity really, as I'd much rather watch a Man Utd - Real final, or Milan - Chelsea than the Mickey Mouse one we are going to get this year.www.my-piano.blogspot

I know you'd like to see Utd in the final, but if you want it to be a meritocracy then ManU arn't in the top 2 (or 4 for that matter) in Europe anyway. So under either system, you don't deserve to be there.

Real Madrid, Man Utd, and AC Milan are the best three European teams.
What is it about ManU's CL efforts post 1999 (ie 5 years ago) that gives you cause to believe that anyway?You make it through a league system that is designed to keep teams in and the 'big' teams away from each other then you get to the nitty gritty, meet a decent side and get knocked out?
According to you, under the league system should n't a 'top 3' side be reaching (at least!) the semi finals a tad more often than you are?Last edited by reds4ever; April 14, 2004, 18:38.

I don't think United is one of the best four teams in europe, although along with arsenal they're close. English teams are always gonna have tough time winning it though cause;
1. they play way too many games and
2. they play too naieve (allthough is great to watch)Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
