Well, anyway, the Indians tried to tango with the Europeans, and they got spanked.

        End of story.

We need some new 'Anti-terrorism disease' like the pox and the plauge for the Injuns.

Anyways the Injuns were a slightly different matter since they had far more support within their ranks than the Islamic Peoples have for terrorists.

Another neat strategy for the Indians was smacking them into reservations and making them dependant upon the 'White Man.' Slaughtering the Bufallo... Well... what is the Islamic Terror Buffalo?

          Oil.

Well.... then to slaughter that we'd have to.

          a) Drill domestically.

          b) Start mass producing alternative fuel cars.

          c) All of these above

i was not aware that disease killed the native americans, i knew the spanish gave the incas IIRC blankets infected with smallpox when they first arrived, i didnt' think this was extended to the natives such as the sioux, cheyanne etc

Why wouldn't it have? The Sioux would have been just as vulnerable to disease as the Incas.

Not the Spanish and not the Inca.

The British colonists did it frequently to the assorted woodsland tribes.

Are you sure the Spanish are innocent of that act?

its not a questions of vulnerability, its a question of whether or not those tactics were used.

I know the indians were displaced, even more so as the railroad was put in,

i simply stated i was not aware that the english has used similar tactics of mass genocide in the forms of disease.

They did a thorough job though, very few indians left ....and someone pointed out before, it would be a war crime as heinous as any other if it were to happen in this day and age.

The Indians were dying simply by coming into contact with the Europeans.

It wouldn't be the first time in history something like this happened. In fact look at SARS and the scare it caused.

Disease is scary stuff, contact is what usually spreads it.

I will state again, i was not aware that it was used as a tactic on the american indian as it was on the incans.

either way, it was brutaly effective

Ask the Beotuk... oops, they were wiped out. My home city is considering building a Human Rights Museum. The organizers are trying to avoid a growing grass roots movement to install a gallery describing the horrific treatment of the North American first nations by the Europeans.

I live in the great plains. The first nations in the area were largely nomadic. They were settled into reservations (think South African homelands) not allowed to practice there own languages religions and culture. Kidnapped at early ages, generations were sent to Residential Schools (there are thousands of outstanding lawsuits for physical and sexual abuse suffered in these church run schools).
There's nothing wrong with the dream, my friend, the problem lies with the dreamer.

does anyone know how many indians were killed in combat, how many died of disease and other attrocities?

i would be curious, i know the population was pretty much wiped down to 10% wasnt it?

The spanish didn't use that particular tactic, but they certainly did their share of atrocities.
