so then infact, the government politcized the event, planted the seed in the minds of the people that it was ETA, so they could get more votes come sunday.

and to do that they had to jump to conclusions.

well i did. by using logic and analysis, i proved all those points. and if you cannot disprove them (which youre not, youre just vaccilating, spinning your wheels, slinging up mud, changing the subject, and digging a deeper hole) that would make me right, and you wrong.

OTOH, I find it really outrageous that the poltiical elites only thought about raking the catastrophe for their profit. I don't know if politicians have a good reputation in Spain, but their behaviour with this massacre will definitely not help

Prove that it wasn't reasonable to assume that a group that had attacked before elections in the past would have done so again.

simple. the attacks before were on government officials, not the general public. attacks agaisnt officials will not elicit the same response as one against the general public (one of extreme anger and backlash and one counterproductive to ETAs goal) . thats why its wrong to say it was ETA.

Sorry to interrupt the enlightened discussion.

Here's the link for the original thread, for when it slips off the first page:

The bad thing is that the government has lain from the first day.

No I don't see how it could of been AL Qaeda. First off they found explosives that ETA stole. This was ETA. But it wouldn't surprise if me if Al Qaeda was in fact involved too. PAGE 4

Given this background I'd say it wasn't so simple:

On February 29, police intercepted a Madrid-bound van packed with more than 1,100 pounds of explosives, and blamed the Basque separatist group ETA.

On Christmas eve, police thwarted an attempted bombing at Chamartin, another Madrid rail station, and arrested two suspected ETA members.

Police have been on high alert for Basque separatist violence ahead of general elections on Sunday, in which regional tensions and how to fight ETA have been key themes

Yep, ours has spent the last year+ forgetting that we, the public, are who they are supposed to represent by ignoring our overwhelming wishes over Iraq, GM, University Top-Up Fees just to name stuff in the news in the past few weeks...
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

not if you read between the lines. it says that govt blamed the ETA, but it was never proven.

Well if we're going to engage in anti-Government paranoia why not say it was CIA agents that did it.
