Have even read any of it Thorn??
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

You are talking about Thorn so the answer should be obvious.

Once again for the reading challenged:

IF YOU CHOOSE NOT TO SUBSCRIBE THEN NOTHING CHANGES FOR YOU.

MARK HAS SAID THAT APOLYTON WILL ALWAYS REMAIN FREE

THE SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE IS FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO BE AD FREE AND WOULD NOT BE MANDATORY

So what you're saying is that if I don't subscribe then I can't use Apolyton, right?

Markos has already refuted this, but it deserves refutation again. $300,000/year revenue? Not so now or in the past.

I do mention the 300,000 number in my article "Four Years and Sixty Eighty Million Hits Passed" dated July 27th, 2002 ( http://apolyton.net/misc/column/212_468.shtml ). Perhaps this is the accurate form of your recollection. The excerpt:

[W]hen there was a solitary candle on ACS' birthday cake, we recorded a little over 300,000 unique hits and a little shy of 6,000,000 pageviews over twelve months time

I just started allowing popups at apolyton, and so far really don't have much to complain about, I've only gotten a couple, and they were not distracting at all. I have to admit that I was a bit ignorant about popup blockers hurting the site, and apologize if my use of them has caused any problems...

...truth be known, I have not once clicked on anything in a pop-up ad other than the little X in the right hand corner,

...a few pop-ups will not bother me in the least, since Apolyton is the only site that I currently allow popups from.

JUST DON'T SEND ME ANY DAMNED SPYWARE!!!!!!

                    • Its all very well to keep saying that this is a private site and that a lot of effort goes into maintaining it..blah blah blah...

But, to be frank, there are plenty of other free bbs's out there without pop-ups and with just as lively discussions. If the ads get much worse, people will just go somewhere else.

Only replying because Moller JoN seems to agree with you.

If you don't follow rules in any club you risk getting thrown out (temporarely?), right?

Thus why wouldn't that apply here? Is it lack of personal contact (which of course makes it a lot easier to be a naughty boy)

IMHO, you get more then slack at it is, not that I mind though.

And btw, I have yet to experience Ming to ban anyone on a whim...

'Whim' is too strong, I'd go with 'lower than commercial site standards'.

                              • If MS has it's way, a good deal of spam and pop-ups will go the way of the dinosaurs ... supposedly.
