Let's send him nude pictures of our wifes/girlfriends. (Just joking, but I know you would love it, Oerdin).

I am prepared to send 10-20 USD in bills (depending on how much leftovers from my last US trip I find in my drawer), by regular mail to any American who volonteers to buy the goods Oerdin asks for in this thread and ship it to him. But I would only send it to a well-known Apolytoner who is approved by Sgt Jackson himself.

Wouldn't MtG be an appropriate collector? Or perhaps Mexico is the wrong place to ship a package from?

(Ah, I was thinking money transfer, read your post to quickly, so that's what my answer is about, no idea on checks I'm affraid.)

Comparatively yes, I don't know the exact amount, I think it's a percentage of the total sum.

However, it is cheaper doing it from home (transfering the money), at least that's the case here.

I just got my home banking account today (mainly for that reason, still looking to buy Vel's books).
I'll install it some time next week - First I wnat to do a clean install, hopefully this weekend and then I have to wait for the authorisation- as soon as I know more, I'll let you know.

I'd also like to contribute an amount, if we can establish a means of transfering it smoothly to a "collector". Unfortunately I don't know how that can be done, but someone will figure it out, I'm sure.

I see no problem in sending a minor amount of US dollar bills by regular mail. If it gets stolen, what's the deal? I am giving it away anyway.

Oerdin is one of the Apolytoners I respect the most. After I started to post off-topic about a year ago, I was spamming the forum with drunk rants about stupid Americans, and Oerdin opposed me by personally proving that most Americans on Apolyton did not fit my stereotypic image of "Mr Average Yankee" as "stupid white thrash".

Later, when I started to post seriously, we had some significant disagreements about American road block policy in Iraq and other topics. Despite these disagreements, Oerdins opinions are based on first-hand experience, so they need to be respected. If we discussed these topics today, we would probably still disagree on some details, but I would think both once and twice on every word I posted.

Alot of europeans in this thread, I'm impressed. I'm sorry to say I don't know the best way to send stuff to Iraq for you guys. Perhaps the idea of getting the stuff together and bringing it to a US army base is a good one.

As for the Americans and Canadians, I'll collect checks and ship off whatever we can buy with whatever comes in, if you guys want me to. Alternately, if someone else is prefered I'll send them off a check tomorrow.

Also need to figure out a smart way to send it from here.

Shipping from US to APO should be the same rate as shipping domestic US.

Oerdin said he would post his APO tommorow. With a new PX, I'm sure cash would be appreciated within reason. It may not be welcome however, as US often issues script in combat zones to prevent enemy from getting currency.

                    Oerdin, Let us know.

I would be happy to contribute. Let me know.

I don't think cash would make sense to send to Iraq. Oerdin probably has more than he could spend in the local army shops anyway. I think it would be better to send cash to a contact person in US who buys the stuff Oerdin really needs.

My wife sends stuff to her sisters husband over there all the time, she'd know how to get it there...

Cheese that doesn't need to be refridgerated; anything from Hickory Farms... Summer Sausage too...

I got an idea; lets not tell him so that it's a surprise

What about paypal, would that work for those not Americans?

Think he'd need condoms? I got tons of those lying around. Unused and still in their originial packaging in case you were wondering .

Cheese - you'll be surprised at how long cheese can last without refrigation.

Peanut butter is one other option if he likes those or he probably can trade with someone else.

Hickory farm summer sausage - yum!

Throw in some Slim Jims too...

I have a friend in Kenya - I often send her newspapers, magazines but I'm sure our trooper can access to the Western media easily. Chocolate is risky depending on how long the shipping takes.

What about a sea monkey kit to keep him occupied?

I forgot to add - I'm for this as long there's someone who's taking care of this that everybody else seems to approve of and trust.

Be nice if that person could post who gave how much and what was sent.

Well ok, is there something Oerdin would like to get from here? Or like Scandinavia or something? I don't know. Well if there is, someone give some tips.
