A philosopher with an AK-47 is the best combo. He can kill but also explain why.

Life actually has much more meaning, and in much more ways, than most of us here realize.

Money wasting philosophers? Good idea! Lets put more money into wasting philosophers. We should order more AK-47s quickly to lay waste to then.
aha ha ha ha... couldn't think of anything witty to say.

              Let's see:

Money and resources wasted on philosophy in human history = a few tons of papyrus, parchment and paper and enough food to keep the philosophers alive.

Money and resources wasted on petitioning non-existent divine beings and other religious stuff = (in addition to that mentioned above) millions of sacrificed chickens, cattle and other livestock; the occasional human being; one whole day out of every ****ing week for the last 2000 years (that's almost 300 years total); millions of joules of energy wasted "fighting" the perfectly natural and healthy urge to screw; thousands of hours wasted worrying about fags, porno and abortions; and the list goes on. All in the service of non-existent objects.

But Philosophy is so terriblt wasteful.

Indeed. For example, it is your destinty to produce feces-flavored popcorn into movie theatres worldwide. It is your purpose.

Religion provides the salvation of our souls.

Philosophy produces annoying but easy to troll fools who get their panties in a bundle the moment their discipline is questioned.

                  Good Night.

                    This thread is meaningless....

Life has no meaning or purpose, other than what you assign to it yourself.

How can you save a non-existent object? That's like me starting a "Save the Unicorns" campaign.

Very nicely said Big Crunch Fully agree.

Life has no greater meaning that is applicable to everyone, it is all what you assign to it yourself. It's all in your head.

Theres your problem. What happens if the person happens to believe in this "non-existent" object?

Same as happens with "Save the Unicorns" campaigns. People waste a lot of time and money chasing something that isn't there.

Yeah thats in your opinion though. Others believe that there is something there. Hell some people probably believe that there are unicorns out there somewhere.

Life has no meaning, because there is no point in us being here other than to be here, and create others that will be here. That cannot provide meaning, because therefore the meaning of life is simply life itself.

I prefer the term gratuitous though. I think it conveys the needlessness of life better
