  • California voters: Do you support prop 57 and 58?

"Passage of Propositions 57 and 58 – the California Balanced Budget Package – are the first steps in California's economic recovery. Proposition 57 will refinance past deficits at a time of historic low interest rates. Proposition 58 will make sure California lives within its means in the future."
    — Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger

"'Yes' votes on propositions 57 and 58 are essential to the financial welfare of California. Without their passage, the cuts and tax increases that will be required to balance the budget will be astounding. The California Balanced Budget Package is the first step in getting our fiscal house in order."
    — Democratic Controller Steve Westly
I do support both of them because they will be the only way to stabilize the budget. What is your take on this for those who are California voters?

*I will vote for both because I am of age and a California resident.

I do not support either of these and will drive a tank in the street to defeat them.

      Fez,

By the quotes you post, it appears that the issue has bi-partisan support. Is this correct?

      monkspider,

      Why?

Bipartisanship is not bad. It is needed right now in California. The fiscal responsibility that comes with each bill will help ease the situation, both of these have been heavily endorsed by Governor Arnold.

I agree that bipartisanship is not bad. It is just so unusual. These must be truly needed things if Repubs and Demos can agree on them.

California is just too messed up for the democrats to go off on their own tangant on this one.. and Arnold has a lot of support.

Well I believe that refinancing debt to low fixed rate terms should be a no-brainer. Where I am shocked that legislators show agreement is in the spending restraints. That one will dominate how politics works in Cali for a long while.

These things are good. I have started doing a lot of business in Cali of late and would like to see good things happen for their economy.

                Fez,

You are wrong, Arnold is the butcher of the working class and must be overthrown. The people of California have spoken.

You're acting moronic. Arnold was elected by a majority. Now go believe in your delusions. Stupid socialism doesn't work in the US.

Not Californian, but I'd be interested in more info on these propositions. As stated, they are meaningless platitudes. What are the actual plans to achieve these (worthy) goals?

I am thinking the site would contain more information on the subject.

monkspider, you can take your spamming elsewhere. We are actually discussing real world politics here.

Please stop spamming this thread. It was directed towards a specific issue, and these props have bipartisan support. So piss off.
