Leave Status Quo, make some minor changes to please some portions of the population. Make a big fuzz about every little change that is being made and sell it as something real big. Try to talk parts of the population into debates and arguing all the time over themselves so that they are busy accusing.
AND MEANWHILE MAKES LOTS OF €€€€ $$$$

Or wait, I wouldnt differ much with current politicians then

Pah. No one gets their panties in a bunch when an experiment creates new amino acids where there were none before, but tweaking existing genes to get glow-in-the-dark nipples results in idiots holding hunger vigils outside your lab.

          Doesn't make sense to me.

              2)Flat unified federal tax
3)Bring the troops we have all over the world home.
Maybe give the south Koreans a chance to do a referendum on the continued presence of US troops(must pass by 67% for them to stay, if it passes it gets voted on next year, and the next and so on).
              4)defend the borders.
5)abortion/environment/healthcare/social services/etc left up to the states.
6)Immigration weighted by abortion rates vs birth rates.
7)Pay off the debt, end the sale of debt to foreign powers, and an end to all foreign aid(the military component of which having already been taken care of) while we do this.
              8)end dual citizenship.
              9)Increase Non-bozo portions of Nasa's budget.

All this appies to the US, of course:

                  1. End funding of schools with property taxes- school funding should come out of central state budgets.

                  2. Progressive tax system, keep estate tax.

                  3. Universal health care coverage- system designed to drive people towards preventive medicine. No coverage for cosmetic surgery unless in order to undo traumatic damage (such as in disfiguring accidents).

                  4. Drive up age at which people can get Social security Benefits.

                  5. pro-free trade: end agricultural subsidies, end taxe benefits designed to further large scale corporate farming.

                  6. Change primary systems for both parties.

                  7. Change rules in Congress to lessen importance of party affiliation.

Those are not all, but enough for now.

Here is a question, do people really think the US doesn't have a progressive tax system? Because technically, it does.

                    6. Change primary systems for both parties.

                    7. Change rules in Congress to lessen importance of party affiliation.

Specifics? If you please, of course. The 7th point sounds intriguing, but how would you do it?

It may look that way by the income tax, but that is evened out by corporate pork. We need to go back to before the Reaganites spewed thier supply-side BS on us.

                      The Progressive Social Democratic Party

                      1. More progressive income tax

                      2. End sales tax

                      3. End funding of schools with property taxes- school funding should come out of central state budgets (thanks GePap)

                      4. Increase gasoline tax to pay for fuel cell resarch

                      5. Tax breaks to people with "clean" cars (like hybrids)

                      6. Cut almost all corporate welfare

                      7. Tax breaks for co-ops

                      8. Remove all agricultural subsidies

                      9. Nationalize the healthcare, fuel/oil/natural gas, energy, and insurance industries

                      10. Remove all religious references in the government.

                      11. Proportional Represention in the Senate.

                      12. Election reforms to create a multi-party system

                      13. End Electoral Collage

                      14. Replace state presidential caucuses, primaries, conventions, etc., with nationwide presidential primaries

                      15. Elections publically financed; all parties with over 3% of the vote get election funds, but cannot go over that amount for thier canidates, you cannot opt out. Parties with less then 3% of the vote are exempted from the restrictions, but do not get goverment funds.

we have the whole mix of "progressive" and "regressive" taxes. SS tax for instance is around 7.5% up to 65k, its a regressive tax despite the flat percentage due to the 65k limit. meanwhile income tax is progressive.I think they mean replace all taxes with progressive taxes.

why do we need proportional representation in the senate? shouldn't the Senate just be abolished in the event that you feel giving the smaller states an equal say is wrong?

To me regressive means the poor have a higher percentage tax, a flat percentage doesn't qualify for me.

PR is a more democratic way to overcome any gerrymandering in the house. Much of the concessions to states' rights in the constitution are now archaic and undemocratic. like our current way of amending the constitution. It should simply be a referendum with 66% voting yes to enact the amendment, not the archaic process we have right now. new communications technology has rendered a lot of federalist ideas obsolete and redundant.

Oh, I would chainge the FICA tax and make it progressive. That would cure the Social Security buget woes.
