Could be worse. When me and some buddies went to go see the second movie, my illustrious DM commented "Holy ****! She's gonna have some serious DSL!"

          Classy,
Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

I am sorry, but how do they come up with 165 mllion quid for Return of the King? you can;t separate the budgets of those three films so easily.

They divide the filming costs by the three films and then add on each film's editing costs. You say you can't seperate the budgets of the three films, but it is any way more fair to simply call it one movie when it wasn't released as such?

And yes, I can see GoF being the most expensive. Firstly, some plum special effects: Quiddich World Cup, dragons, magically flying ship and carriage, the underwater event, the finale, etc, etc.

I think this is the wrong way to go about it. They carved up and murdered the first book incredibly badly, and that was short. The 4th and 5th books are long enough that even a more careful treatment will probably still mess things up.

They should have done the same thing as Japanese OAVs- release them direct to video, in, say, 4 1-hour episodes. The kids can sit through 'em, they'll be easily rebroadcast on TV later, and you make even more money.
                All syllogisms have three parts.
Therefore this is not a syllogism.

Am I the only one that thinks the characters in Harry Potter are a bit shallow? I can't comment on the books, but the movie performances and characters leave a lot to be desired.

Yeah, me too. I was expecting a kids movie about a wizard to have really deep insights into human character and not be a lightweight romp.

Everyone talked like it was some kind of masterpiece. When I watched what little that I did watch I saw some special effects and not much else.. Thankfully I don't have kids that make me go see it.

I saw the first film and it was complete rubbish. As far as I can tell it would have been impossible to know what was going on unless you'd read the books. And I really like the books. So I agree really but couldn't resist being a smartarse.
