You're never gonna get a satisfactory design no matter what.

I'd prefer a wave pool with a water slide, calling it 9/11 HappyFunLand, but that's just me.

SAM sites, for the protection of the rest of the high rises.

How about a plaza, with a firefighters helmet on the centre, on top of an fire-axe, like WWII era helmet on Garand?
Of course, somehow protected against idiot teenagers.

Or maybe a Statue of Liberty-like statue of a lone, heroic fire-fighter hosing the flames of freedom... *Snif*

            Wait...

              it looks stupid....

they should build two more buildings even taller than before...
To us, it is the BEAST.

Those foundations should be filled with water and be turned into swimming pools...

Well, you neophytes to the issue:

                    1. There is a group of victims families that is fighting to prevent anything being built on the site of the tower footprints, while the owener of the property is anxious to build. Now, any plan ahs to meet some new changes to the street layout and so forth, so it is not a simple matter of just building something- there are competing and cnflicting interest groups involved.

                    2. That phote there is a terrible one. Only the pools are part of the memorial-that thing to the side is not.

Of alkl the finalist designs, this was by far my favorite-supposedly its main advocate in the jurry was the designer of the Vietnam War Memorial-the best war memorial in the uS by far, most evocative of the real cost of war.

As for the design, in the bottom you have reflecitng pools, with paths going down- along these paths in the side are carved the names of the dead- waterfalls are also included- I say find better drawings of what is intended.

I'd like to see a memorial worked into another massive tower design... perhaps a huge promenade in the lobby or something with fountains and a public memorial...

but to not have another skyscraper just seems stupid to me... life has to go on... people die...

You're right. They should build a mortuary there. It can have the world's largets incinerator.

Yes, they will still build the annoyingly named Freedom tower.

They should build two. The Freedom Tower and The Liberty Tower.

We already have Liberty Plaza, which are the three green skyscrapers next to where the WTC is.
