Dell just introduced its competitor to the ipod. Reviews have been mixed. I don't like the look of the thing, but I'm not going to write it off without hearing it first.

I'm a bit wary of Dell. They used to make good, reliable computers back in the 90s, but in the last five years or so I've heard dozens of complaints from friends and acquaintances about the quality of their consumer lines.

The ipod was endorsed by Stereophile magazine, which is pretty impressive. Those guys really know their stuff and I was surprised to see them endorse any mp3 player since downloadable music is not renowned for its audio quality. It's a bit like having your classical record win a Gramophone Magazine award.

**shrug** This whole PC vs. Mac and vice-versa is just annoying in the sense that it so often denigrates into hissing and spitting. People oughta use what they like to use and leave it at that. Or, at the very least, keep the disagreements civil. Yeah, yeah, I know. Human nature isn't conducive to that pie-in-the-sky mentality. Still, it never hurts to try.

You get all the others for that. It looks like iphoto and imovie won't be downloadable for free any more. Alghouth you get them free with a new mac.

The interesting thing was the market share of the music stuff. I mean 70% is just ridiculous, the other places must be losing money hand over fist. The ipod share is pretty impressive too 81% of HD based players and 31% overall with 55% of total revenues.

If the cheaper ipods take off, the game is over. Although 250 bucks is a little steep. He's right about the flash players thought, they suck and are a waste of money.

                Good point laurentius.

It's a statement. It shows that those who buy from Apple are saying that they are sick and tired of Microsoft, Intel, Dell and other behometh companies' vile ways and will boycott (at least partially) their products and buy from one of their competitors, even if it means they won't be getting as good of a product.

And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

I thought you supported the free market?

What does that have to do with anything? I support the right of people to buy Britney Spears, but I'm not going to look too favorably on buying her caterwalling that passes for music.

So instead of making your own tricked out Athlon and installing Linux you'ld rather pay 10 X to Apple. (if you can't get the hang of Linux you can always revert back to Windows XP as a dual boot). Hmmm...... seems a statement alright.

Apple never ceases to amaze me.

I love how they advertise iLife as coming with iTunes -- I thought that was free. What a feature!

Using Linux entails the same concept. I even use that to, so .

Point is your daft for wayyyy over spending for an Apple if all your attempting to do is make a point to the MS/Intel/Dell unholy alliance.
