That must be a terminology issue, but I would hardly call the UK "socialist". Even the Scandinavians aren't socialist. Those are "social-democratic" countries, i.e capitalist societies that acknowledge private ownership of production means, but which limit the perverse effects of inequality.
A "socialist" country, in my book, is a country that doesn't acknowledge the private ownership of production means, except one-person businesses.

I don't ever hear people using socialist or communist interchangeably when describing United Kingdom.
Saying all A are B does not simultaneously say that all B are A. Communists are a subset of the group of socialists. So are anarchists. Anarchists are not communists nor vice versa, and all socialists are not communists or anarchists, unless you're a sectarian who aregues that your particular ideolgoy are the only true socialists.
Nor would I accept the UK as a socialist country. However, I thought the United Kingdom implemented some economic socialist regulations/policies. So therefore, I thought that to some extent the United Kingdom was a socialist country.A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.Comment
