How isn't it a religion? It's a spiritual movement based on elements of Daoism and Buddhism, a pretty run of the mill East Asian syncretic religion.

I bet a semantic argument on the exact definition of "religion" is in the offing, though. Can't keep attention on Chinese human rights abuses, now, can we?
