  • Going to see it with my daughter to-morrow morning.

Looking forward to it a whole bunch.

Loved the first two. Can't imagine this will be any less good.

      • I'm seeing this 3 hour and 42 minute behemoth tonight at 7:30 pm!

        And I love the Silmarillion.

        • I promised to watch it with my wife. We're taking off Monday (daytime) to watch it, hopefully so the theatre isn't quite as packed.

This does mean my abstaining from just going in the meantime... ahh.. the things we do for love.

I heard there is an IMAX print. I wonder if Lowes Time Square will be showing it... and when?

            • Very good, could probably have been a lot shorter though... Especially the ending.

                • It's a blast. The battle scenes are wondeful, as are the landscapes and characters.

without that quote, that line could have been soooo misinterpreted.

Second that. People who haven't read the books will have an advantage, IMHO.
Also the manner of how they won differs greatly, but when reading the books that is what I thought would happen. It's really the only way they could've beaten such an army.

(The Mouth of Sauron will be in the Extended DVD)

I was expecting it. But really, with all the hype of the battle of Pelennor Fields, I'm just glad they had the battle at the Black Gate.

There's a theatre around here that's showing the trilogy using the extended version for the 1st 2. We need to combine that with an IMAX.

                              • as a whole, the trilogy is pretty well done, if full of changes compared to the books though. the debate is irrelevant though, since a 1-1 translation of the book would have made for a boring movie. however I detest most scenes showing civilian suffering. call me a cynic, but that's too emotion-based and too far away from the whole fantasy thing. I can only enjoy an orc storm onto a human city if I don't have to see crying mothers with little babies. too close to reality, as silly as it sounds... fantasy is an escapist genre after all, not a critical one.
