What is the fundamental root of homophobia?

I don't know the two other shows, but Will & Grace has been designed in a way that homophobes won't be bothered at all. There's no physical intimacy between the gays in the show at all because the harmlessness is necessary for non-gay wievers. Please don't regard Will & Grace as a breakthrough before we see some passionate kissing on the show.

The very fact that you have to mention a few out of a million episodes backs my point. Will and Jack locked to protest, sure, but it wasn't even remotely anything emotional. Please admit that ACTUAL intimacy - as in the close-up intense kissing that's normal in hetero relations on film - doesn't take place between gay men in Will & Grace.

Homophobia is a mis-leading/illogical term, people can hate or dislike homosexuals without fearing them... Now, if you want to delve into the psyche of people who dislike homosexuals, there may be some kind of "fear" but it appears most people disapprove of homosexuality based on religious grounds. But that raises questions about their intelligence, why on Earth would anyone just accept as prrof what someone else wrote a few thousand years ago about homosexuality? Well, "God" said so... Perhaps, or maybe some guy who didn't like homosexuals said that and tried to pass off his biases onto "God"... I'd like to see actual proof...

Homophobia means hatred of homosexuals. Don't follow the litteral roots. The misnomer comes from the often prevelant use of fear tactics to justify oppression.

Anti-semisitm isn't about fear of Jews, and yet oppression of Jews is frequently couched in getting them before they get us, ie., they need Christian blood for Pasach pastries, they're poisoning the wells, they control the world's money, ZOG, they stabbed Germany in the back, etc. Evil always tries to pull a sheepskin over itself, and so with homophobia, the sheepskin was mistaken as the real thing.

Then I guess I have been using the term wrong, I assume homophobia is fear, since it uses the suffix "phobia"... Repulsion would be ahomophopic, hatred would be, uh?, Gay-basher... like more over religious zealots of in-laws... I have never hated gays, I was just repulsed by them because I never knew one. Then when I finally realized that I did, I realized that we are just a like... I still find acts of homosexuality repulsive (in the same way I think ppl who eat KimChi are nasty - so a whole country), but that says nothing about the people...

Well, chegitz, I also find it amusing when a Jew accuses someone of Arab desent of being anti-semitic. While you're right homophobia and anti-semitism are used to mean hatred of Homosexuals and Jews, the terms are still being used illogically.
