The problem with the statistics in MM's film aren't that they are factually inaccurate, but that they are irrelevant. So what if there are countries with lower gun ownership and less gun violence. There are also countries with less gun ownership and more gun violence, and countries with more gun ownership and less gun violence.

but he was talking about the Western "civilized" world. Sure, per capita, Iraq probably has more guns than America. But MM used countries like Canada, Britain, Germany, France, and Japan because they are the most comparable to America.
