most humans are not emotionless enough to be in the military.

I don't think the military expects, or even wants people to be emotionless.

exactly my point. I didn't make my point clear.

It is unreasonable to expect everyone in the military to be eomtionless. Because most humans are not emotionless.

The only humans I can think of who are emotionless are Hilary Clinton and Adolf Hilter.

I think it rather unreanable to expect ANYone to be emotionless. Not denying that some people are, or are close to it, but those are rare individuals indeed. . .

I gather that's what you were trying to say, Dissident?

Doesn't mean you don't feel the impact, or that you don't react, or that you lose all sensitivity to suffering, particularly when you know it's a hazard of your profession that whatever you see, the same or worse may happen to you or your comrades.

Our family dog got run over yesterday. He was one of those completely witless dogs who when let loose would run around the neighborhood, and I mean literally running at full gallop, utterly oblivious to the world. He managed to get out of the house, took off for a run, and within a few minutes was run over right in front of our yard.

Watching a cat die is nothing compared to watching a person die, especially if you had a hand in either one. May want to give that some thought before joining the military.

most people in the military do not kill people.

I knew my job would not require me to kill someone.

But I'm sure the possibility is there, however unlikely.

well I would have killed someone if they tried to take over my ship. Like the movie under seige. too bad I don't have an uzi

Sorry about the dog. My dog when I first got her used to run around crazy. She used to cross a busy arterial street and amazingly never got hit. But I managed to traine her well. I can leave the fence open and she won't run out.

no, I was an engineering type. I could attack with a big wrench, but I'd prefer an uzi.
