  • BREAKING NEWS: Bush visits Iraq!

Just saw on CNN and Fox News, that Bush paid a surprised visit to our troops in Iraq. He landed at Baghdad Int. Airport and had a thanksgiving dinner with about 600 troops.

    Way to go Mr. President!
    Bush
'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

        You actually watch Fox news?
"The first man who, having fenced off a plot of land, thought of saying, 'This is mine' and found people simple enough to believe him was the real founder of civil society. How many crimes, wars, murders, how many miseries and horrors might the human race had been spared by the one who, upon pulling up the stakes or filling in the ditch, had shouted to his fellow men: 'Beware of listening to this imposter; you are lost if you forget the fruits of the earth belong to all and that the earth belongs to no one." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Well, there were some "tiny" security issues.

I must say that it is a brilliant press event, though. All the reporters get to go gaga, spend the whole day talking about it, on day most people are at home and will have the chance to hear about it all day. And thankfully no soldiers were killed this day, so the press gets to be totally supportive.

Impressive. However, if someone wanted to kill him*, this would be the perfect chance.

                    *someone in Irak, that is.

Actually, I thought there were two more soldiers killed in Mosul that they talked about on the news today?

Al Qaeda probably think it was very unsporting of Bush to drop into the neighbourhood unannounced. They didn't even have time to prepare a welcome reception.

All those jihadists watching him on TV, fuming that Bush didn't bother to call ahead. So near and yet so far.

Excellent PR stunt. It'll give his ratings a good boost I imagine.

I know this will go down well with our troops. I hope the Iraqi's themselves appreciate what Bush has done.
