It's also interesting to go to the tourist district just to look around. Sure you will be mobbed by prostitutes but there are lots of bargins to be had in fack western designer goods & computer software plus the food is world class if you go to the right places.
I did say i liked it. It just took some getting used to. I got a culture shock to say the least. I'm a laid back kind of guy and Bangkok is definately not a laidback kind of city. I was only there on a stopover for a couple of days but I saw the sites and they were nice. The food OTOH, it tasted good but it just wasn't compatible with my systemCSPA

Then again, I've not left the Australian East Coast...
Bloody Australians. Thick as bricks because they just don't care.
I hope to go to Stockholm, Montreal or Tokyo some day - I hear that Japanese, Swedish and Canadian folk have brains...

It's for the reason I posted. The Nordic region has an agreement of free movement of any citizen between the countries. Sweden has a system of quite generous social security benefits. An unemployed alcoholic could get the rent payed (in a junky apartment), and some money for food. Some Finnish social security clerks tell their clients to move to Sweden, just to save Finnish tax payer's money.
But then the junkies are too proud to ask for social security money or they don't qualify for other reasons. and are doomed to hit the street. So get your Naomi Klein books and move it or I'll seriously bash your faces in! - Supercitizen to stupid students

I can't believe this thread could have went so far without anyone mentioning Baltimore. It's the worst place that ever existed. In the summer, it's suffocatingly hot, and the traffic is reminiscent of scenes of trains in India... terrible. Plus, it's impossible to go there without getting lost. I once tried to find Eutaw Street and almost ended up in Pennsylvania.
That said, I have to second NYC. The only thing I liked about going to New York was kicking a pigeon in Central Park. That was fun.Pi = 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375 10582097494459230781640628620899862803482534211706 79821480865132823066470938446095505822317253594081 2848111...
